Greetings! and thank you for giving us this opportunity to come to you. We trust you have been having a good week. Today is the last day of this week, and as we take time to rest, maybe refresh yourselves, we are grateful for the goodness of God in our lives, carrying us through another week in our lives. We've been talking about living with purpose and as we bring this week's meditations to a close, I want to present us with this challenge which is to pursue the purpose of God. The apostle Paul wrote this in Philippians chapter three, verses 12 to 14, he said, ‘not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus as also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.’ What I want highlight here is that he repeats this twice or maybe three times in different words, he says, I press on, I reach forward, and I press toward. What Paul is saying is I want to lay hold of what Jesus laid a hold of my life, but in order to do that, I am pressing on, I'm reaching forward, and I'm pressing toward, meaning, there's a constant forward motion, an intentional pursuit of the purpose of God. As we go through life, there will be a lot of things that come to distract us. There'll be a lot of things that come to disturb us. There will be a lot of things that come to discourage us. There will be a lot of things that come to deviate us, take a detour, go in a wrong direction, but you and I must stay focused and pursue that for which Jesus has laid a hold of us, the purpose which He has for us, pursue it, don't let anything discourage you, stop you, distract you, deviate you from the purpose of God for your life. You press toward it, you reach for it, you move towards it, never give up because the God who designed you for a purpose is also faithful to help you fulfill that purpose. Let’s pray, Father, thank you that it is you who is at work in us, empowering us, enabling us, to fulfill the purposes that you have for us and with your strength with your grace, we will continue to press on, to reach for, and to press toward the call that you have on our lives, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
