Who Sinned? (Daily Devotional)

Hello and welcome to Living supernaturally. We are so glad that you could join us today even as we look into God’s word, His word is so powerful, it is the truth, its life giving and there is much that we can learn and apply from God’s word daily, even as He has called us to live a supernatural life- a life that is above the natural life. We’ve been looking at the questions that people asked Jesus and the Lord’s response to those questions and from that we have been learning some truths and learning how to apply it in our own lives and experience the power of God’s word.

Today we are going to look at John chapter 9 and verse 1-3 which says, ‘Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.’ So, a very interesting question, the disciples saw this person who couldn’t see, who was blind from birth, so they asked this question, who sinned? Is he in this condition because of his own sin or is he in this condition because his parents did something that was displeasing to God? The Lord said neither this person nor his parents but instead brought out an important truth. He said this is an opportunity for the works of God to be revealed in this person, this is neither his fault nor the parents but here is an opportunity, this person qualifies for the works of God/ glory of God to be revealed.

So, we see that, Romans chapter 5, verse 12 says, ‘Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.’ He is talking about the outworking and spread of sin and says that through one man sin entered the world and death spread because of sin. Now we know that there are some consequences to intentional sin and there are some consequences because of the original sin which manifests itself in certain physical limitations, unrighteousness, wickedness, corruption that we see all around, due to the original sin itself. Here we see that the Lord Jesus very clearly says that it is not this person or the other but because that person is in this condition, he has this limitation because of the original sin, because of the consequence of the original sin, Adam fell, and that consequence is experienced in the bodies of people; here is a candidate who qualifies for the works of God to be revealed and there is so much hope, there is so much truth and power in that statement that we qualify as people who face the consequence of the original sin in our bodies, minds, several limitations, but we qualify as people who can experience the miracle working, transforming power of God in our own bodies, minds, and lives. Acts chapter 10 and verse 38 says, ‘how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.’ The Lord Jesus redeems us from the consequence and corruption of sin and the good works of Jesus dismantle the works of the enemy in our own lives.

Shall we pray? Father, we thank you Lord because you came for this very purpose to set us free. We thank you that you set us free from the consequence of sin because you carried sin upon yourself, you died on the cross for us and by your stripes we are healed, we are saved and delivered. Father, I pray if we are carrying any sickness in our bodies, that this time you will experience the healing that comes from the power of the cross, through the finished work of the cross, let the power of the finished work of the cross be made manifest in our bodies, in our minds, we thank you Lord, In Jesus’s name, we pray, Amen.
