Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotional of All Nations church. We're so glad that you could be here today as we study God's word with the intent of applying it daily in our lives. Now, this week we are going to look at how we can understand the gifts of the Holy Spirit a little better because we are instructed in the Bible about the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we should not be ignorant and it is not just an intellectual understanding but a very practical application of it is what we are instructed to do. And so, today we are going to look at how the gifts of the Spirit are a supernatural manifestation. Let's look at those words, ‘supernatural manifestation’. So, that word supernatural, it means that it is not a naturally learned ability or a skill that we were born with, an ability that we were born with. It is something supernatural, which means that it was given or it is given by God Himself who's a supernatural God. So, it is a supernatural impartation or a supernatural manifestation as the word of God says. That word manifestation, what does it mean? Let's look at the scripture, 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 7, it says, "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." The manifestation of the Spirit, which means it is a display or an expression or an exhibition of the Holy Spirit. So, one thing we need to understand when we talk about or when we learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit is that it is an expression of God Himself. These gifts which are listed in 1 Corinthians chapter 12, for example, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, prophecy, these are an expression, these are a display of God Himself. What is it a display of? It is a display of the character of God; it is an expression of the power and the presence of God. In other words, it means that God Himself is describing and expressing Himself through these gifts. So, what does He describe? What does He express? He expresses His character, the very character and the nature of God is expressed through the gifts of the Spirit. Just think about it, the love of God, His faithfulness, His purity, His holiness, His mercy, His grace, and His intent for Him to be with us at all times, for Him to break through into our lives. So, His character is expressed through these gifts. For example, word of knowledge, something that we did not know, but God knows and He brings it to our understanding through another person. So, the word of knowledge, it just talks about the fact that God was there when these things happened and He cares enough to bring it to our understanding so that He can change things in our lives. And so, we know that this is an expression of His love and of His care for us. Now, the gifts of the Spirit are also an expression of the power of God. So, it's a supernatural manifestation. It's an expression of the power of God, the power of God to break through and dismantle sin. The power of God to break through and bring healing and wholeness. The power of God to deliver a person. We see that it's a manifestation of the power of God as well. So, this should change our thinking, our understanding about the gifts. If we have always shied away from gifts, if we perceived gifts to be something flashy or something that is up there on a platform, no, it is very much a description or an expression of the character, the nature, and the power of God. So, with that, even as we pray, let's ask God to change our thinking so that we can understand and we can move in these gifts. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you that the gifts of the Holy Spirit, they are a supernatural manifestation of who you are and of what you can do. And so, we ask and we welcome you in our midst to manifest yourself. We pray that we would surrender and give ourselves to you so you can manifest and express yourself freely in and through us. We thank you, master, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
