Greetings and once again it is a joy to be able to come to you today and spend these few moments in God’s word and in prayer. This week, we are talking about personal evangelism and passion for souls, just reigniting a very important part of our lives as believers in Jesus Christ which is to be soul winners, witnesses, and sharing the message of Jesus to others. When we talk about personal evangelism, many times we get a little scared because I haven’t really read the whole New Testament, haven’t studied the whole bible, am I really equipped to tell others about Jesus? What if they ask all kinds of questions and so on and so forth. Of course, those kinds of fears and inhibitions are things that all of us face no matter how long we’ve been in the faith. But we must understand that the call to personal evangelism is actually very simple. It is as simple as sharing your own story with someone else. What has Jesus done for you? How did your life change in meeting Jesus Christ? You just share that story with somebody else. One great example is that of the demoniac of Gerasenes whom the Lord Jesus encountered powerfully, he got delivered. This man wanted to go with Jesus. In Mark chapter 5, verses 18 to 20, ‘And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him.’ He wanted to stay with Jesus but this is Jesus’s response in verse 19, ‘However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.’ It is very simple. Jesus told him to go home, tell your friends and people you have connections with, tell people who knew you before, tell them what the Lord has done for you and how much compassion He has had for you. That is personal evangelism, that is sharing Jesus. This is what Jesus has done for me, this is what He means to me, this is how my life has changed, telling them who Jesus is to you, what He has done for you. It is as simple as that to share your story. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will set up divine appointments in our life. Send us to people, send people to us. Among all the people we know, may we just tell them our story of who you are to us and what you have done in our life, that they may all encounter you the same way we did, we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
