Hi everyone, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for this beautiful opportunity to spend time in God’s word and a few moments in prayer as well. This week, we are talking about integrity and today, we will talk about the world we live in. Esther chapter 1, verse 22, ‘He sent dispatches to all parts of the kingdom…that every man should be ruler over his own household.’ The advice of the king’s counselor is ironic. The search process would bring Esther, a Jewish woman who shows great integrity into the most important house of the empire. She would wisely influence two of the most important men in the kingdom and enter beginning to protect God’s people. Xerxes had total confidence in his counselor’s search for a new queen. He was surprisingly successful. As the story develops, Esther impresses the king and becomes his favorite but no one knows she is a Jew. As it turns out, following Mordecai’s advice was to not reveal her nationality at first. Eventually, Esther’s actions and words would bring triumph to the Jews. Esther was a woman of integrity. She was the chosen one not only by God but by the Persian king. She was also mightily used by God and because of her obedience, it literally changed history and saved thousands of people. Yet, she didn’t become arrogant or proud. She remained humble, devoted to God and her people. She understood that humility is not thinking less of oneself but thinking of oneself less. Scripture never says Esther complained about her situation or avoided her duty, rather, she attended to the dailyness of the palace life in such a way that she won favor with all who saw her. Esther humbly clothed herself with honor by trusting her mentors. Every year the Jewish people celebrate the festival of Purim, to commemorate their deliverance brought about when Esther chose to do the right thing, even when it was the hard thing. Sometimes, choosing the right thing may cost us greatly. Other times, like in the book of Esther, our integrity is vindicated and rewarded. No matter what the outcome, choosing the right thing when it is hard, is always a good thing. One day we can stand before God and in confidence, know that we have chosen well. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for what we can learn from your word. Even as we looked at the life of Esther, how she stood for what is right, I pray that you will enable each one of us, no matter which sphere of influence we are in that we will stand for what is right, be obedient to your word and know that you are there with us, through every season, thank you Lord for doing this, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
