Hi everyone, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to minister God’s word and pray together. This week, we have been talking about reconciliation and we have come to the last day and we are talking about Jesus is the saving lamb. John chapter 1, verses 29 to 31, ‘The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”’ John the Baptist, most of us know his story, God sent him as a messenger to point to Jesus Christ. John the Baptist was a prophet who prepared the way for the Messiah. He explained and said that he was not the Messiah and he was not even worthy to untie the straps of the Messiah’s sandal. The Messiah was greater than he because the Messiah would baptize with Holy Spirit and fire. In all of John’s statements, this statement was the most direct statement. He said, ‘look, the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.’ When you point this to the Old Testament, lambs were required for yearly sacrifices for all Jewish families. This was the celebration of the Passover, when the blood of the lamb was put on the doorposts and death passed by. The connection of the Passover is the primary reason why Jesus is referred to the lamb of God. All Old Testament scriptures and rituals pointed to the Messiah, the great deliverer who was going to come and now John has identified Jesus as the promised, anointed one, as the Messiah. Jesus was the spotless lamb who took away the sins of the world. God gave His own son to die on the cross for us, to take up our sins on the cross. Jesus is the lamb of God provided by God to be slain, to fulfill the law of God and to fulfill the scriptures. God laid on Him all iniquity, He was wounded for our transgressions, He was pierced for our iniquities, He bore our burden and our sins on the cross, He paid the entire debt that we owed and He reconciled us to God, giving us forgiveness and eternal life. Today, though we may not know everything about God, we know more than what John did. We have the word of God that fleshes out the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. As His hearers and hearers of the word of God, how would we respond? Jesus Christ was not just a good person who lived or an idea, He is a sacrifice of God. Today, we can boldly and confidently declare that Christ has come and He has taken away the sins of this world, thus reconciling you and I to God. What an honor it is to be called His child, to stand in His presence, justified and holy, not by our own efforts but by the finished work of the cross. Let us pray, Father, we thank your word and that you are the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Thank you for the price that you paid on the cross, that today, each one of us can stand in your presence, we can enter your throne room of grace with boldness and confidence, knowing that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We thank you for teaching us, leading us and guiding us, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
