Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotional of All People’s church. We are so glad that you could be here today joining us even as we study the word of God. This week, we are going to look at what does it mean to be a normal Christian? Have you ever wondered, am I a normal Christian and what does it mean to be a normal Christian? So, we are going to look at different aspects of the normal Christian life. First of all, we see that it is a life of faith. For a normal Christian, it is a life of faith which means that a life of faith is normal for a Christian. John chapter 20, verses 27 to 29, ‘Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”’ The Lord is speaking to Thomas and earlier on, Thomas had told the disciples, unless I put my hand into the wounds of the Lord’s hands and touch His side, I will not believe. The Lord comes and gives him the proof of His resurrection and existence and makes a very important statement. He says, ‘blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’ He is calling Thomas to a higher life - a life which goes beyond what is normally received by the physical senses, a life where you go beyond what we see and hear with our physical senses. We see that faith in God- Hebrews chapter 11 talks about that, faith in God is to be assured meaning it is the tile deed, it is the confirmation of the things that are guaranteed by Him. This means we are assured and confident of the things that have been assured/ guaranteed to us by Him. Hebrews chapter 11, verse 1 also says, ‘and to consider as evidence or proof the things that are not yet manifest, which means not yet available to our physical senses.’ Now that is the bible kind of faith which means that God has spoken/ promised something and it is not yet seen through our physical senses or manifested to our physical senses, but these are things that are promised to us, in fact guaranteed to by Him. To be confident of that, to have that title deed kind of confidence is faith. Hebrews chapter 11 and verse 6 says that, ‘But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God (the normal Christian) must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.’ This is to everyone who is a follower of the Lord Jesus. This is not just for the super spiritual or the giants of faith but for everyone who is a normal Christian. So, faith is a requirement. It is not a presumptuous life; it is a life where one takes God at His word. Shall we pray?

Father, we thank you Lord for your word. We thank you that it is normal for a Christian to live a life of faith, a life where things may not be visible, things may not be tangible to our physical senses, but because you have spoken it, because you have said it, we receive it as something that is already done. We thank you that you've called us to such a life. We give you all the praise and all the glory, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
