Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for this opportunity to come your way, minister God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we will be talking about the hand of the Lord for prophetic empowerment. 1 Samuel chapter 7, verse 13, ‘So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.’ God gave Samuel a message of judgement to relay to Eli. The following day, Samuel took his first leap of faith telling Eli everything, even though that message was bad news. Eli responded with acceptance. Samuel’s credibility as a prophet spread throughout the land of Israel and God continued to reveal His word to His people through the prophet Samuel. As the Israelites cried out to God for help against the Philistine oppressors, Samuel instructed them to tear down their false gods which they had been worshipping. With Samul’s leadership and God’s power, the Philistines were overcome and there was peace in the land of Israel. God called on Samuel to listen, to bring the word of the Lord to His people. God wanted Samuel to dedicate his life for this service. Samuel became a prophet and he led in this role for 60 years, as Israel moved from loosely, organized groups of clans to a peaceful monarchy led by king David. As Samuel grew and faithfully conveyed the messages of God to His people, the people of Israel consulted Samuel on difficult subjects and the elders trembled in his presence because he represented God and the authority that he carried. Yet in his great concern for his nation, at times he would be in deep intercessory prayers for them. Years later, God sided Samuel along with Moses as leaders of the Israelites whose prayers for mercy for the people had often been heeded. The life of Samuel was pivotal in Israel’s history. He was a prophet, he anointed the first two kings of Israel and he was the last line of Israel’s judges. God speaks to each one of us in different ways. He speaks through creation, giving testimony to His faithfulness and creativity. He speaks through His word, life situations and the Holy Spirit, gifting us and equipping us to use those gifts for the service of His kingdom. Are you listening to God’s voice this morning?

Let us pray, Father, we want to thank you for your prophetic hand upon each of our lives. Thank you that you have called us to walk in a way that we can hear you and even as we journey along with you, teach us to be sensitive to your voice and to walk in your ways, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
