Greetings and thank you so much for journeying with us throughout this week. Each day we
have been learning a little bit on how to release the gift of prophecy, or simply how to
prophecy, some basic instructions along these lines and today we share the final instruction
which is to prophecy to edify and glorify. Edify people, glorify Jesus. 1 Corinthians chapter 14,
verse 12, the apostle Paul wrote and said, ‘Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts,
let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.’ In verse 31, he says, ‘You can
all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.’ So, the apostle Paul is
setting the right motivation to release spiritual gifts, he says let it be for the edification, the
building up of God’s people. He says everyone can prophecy, the ultimate goal/ objective is so
that everybody can learn and be encouraged. So, through the gift of prophecy, what are we
seeking to do? We are seeking to bless people, to edify people, to edify the church, to help
people learn and be encouraged and we are also seeking to glorify Jesus because the Holy Spirit
always glorifies Jesus and every gift that comes from the Holy Spirit will ultimately glorify and
exalt Jesus Christ. So, that should be our motivation as we seek to release the gift of prophecy,
as we seek to bring a ‘now’ word to people, as we seek to bring to people what the Lord is
saying to them, we do it with a right motivation, we do it so that they can be blessed, edified,
strengthened and encouraged so that the Lord Jesus can be glorified. That is our motivation, we
are not doing it to show off how spiritual we are, or to say that I can hear from God, we are not
doing it as some special badge that we can wear on or to draw attention to ourselves. We are
not doing it to show how great we are, none of that! We are doing it to bless people and to
glorify Jesus Christ, that is our motivation and let us continue that way. Let’s pray, Father, we
thank you for the learning this week. I pray that by your Holy Spirit, there will be an
impartation, a stirring up in each of our lives so that we can release the gift of prophecy, we can
say to people what you are saying in the now, that will bless/ edify and strengthen people and
let Jesus be glorified through it all, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
