The Fruit of the Spirit - Kindness – Reflecting God's Heart (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to minister God's word and spend a few moments in prayer. We've been talking about the fruit of the Spirit and today, we'll talk about kindness, which is reflecting God's heart. Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 32, ‘Be kind and compassionate to one another.’ Imagine a person is having the worst day of his life, they feel invisible, they feel discouraged, they feel lonely, and ready to give up. Then maybe someone smiles, give them a word of encouragement, offers help, or simply listens. That one act of kindness can change everything. Kindness has this incredible power, it does not require any talent, any money, and influence. It only requires a heart that reflects God's love. The world often responds with anger, selfishness, criticism, but as believers, you and I are called to walk differently. We are called to reflect the kindness of God because we know that God's kindness changes lives. In Romans chapter 2, verse 4, it says, "Or do you show contempt for the riches of His kindness, not realizing that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?" Many people imagine that God is distant and always angry, but throughout scripture, we see that God is rich in mercy and full of kindness. His kindness is not a weakness; it is His loving invitation for us to run back to Him. Think about our own lives, God has been patient, He has forgiven us, He has provided, protected, and continued to love us even when we have disobeyed, even when we have turned our face against Him. In Luke chapter 15, Jesus tells this story of the prodigal son, where the son demanded his inheritance, left home, and squandered everything. When he finally returned back home rejected, he expected his father to probably push him away. Rather, when he returned home, the father represented God's heart. Instead of punishment, the father ran to him, embraced him, kissed him, celebrated that his son has returned. Instead of punishment, he showed him kindness. Instead of condemnation, he offered restoration. Kindness is seen in everyday actions. We don't have to do something spectacular to make a difference. Small acts of kindness often leave a deep impact. Boaz noticed Ruth gleaning the fields. He could have ignored her, instead, he protected her, spoke kindly to her, and provided extra food. Boaz even instructed the workers to leave additional grain for her. Boaz's kindness changed Ruth's future. Eventually, she became part of the family line of Jesus Christ. Kindness is most powerful when given to difficult people. It is easy to be kind to the people whom we love. In Luke chapter 6, verse 27, Jesus says, "Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you." Everywhere Jesus went, kindness followed. He welcomed children, He touched the lepers, He ate with sinners. Jesus responded with both truth and kindness. In another instance, when they brought the woman caught in adultery, Jesus said, "Let anyone of you without sin be the first one to throw the stone." One by one, they left. Jesus said to the woman, "Where are your accusers?" And then He said, "Neither do I accuse you. Go now and do not sin." Notice that Jesus did not excuse her sin, He showed grace while transforming her life. Kindness is not weakness, but strength. The strength to reflect God's heart in a world that often lives by indifference. When we act in kindness, we become live testimonies of His love, bringing light, bringing healing, bringing deliverance into this world. May we walk with this God kind of kindness. Let us pray, Father, we thank you for this word, and we thank you for the power of your word that just transforms our lives. Even as you walked in kindness, and you touched the leper, you healed the sick, we pray that each one of us as your children will walk in kindness to the people who are around us and even as we do this, may we reflect who you are, to truly be the salt and light in this world and to make a difference. We thank you, and we bless your name, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
