Greetings and thank you so much for joining us today as we take a few moments to be in the word of God and prayer. We've been talking about the believer’s authority. Today, we turn our attention to Romans chapter 5 and verse 17, the apostle Paul teaches us here in verse 17, he says, "For if by one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ." In Romans chapter 5, the apostle Paul is going deep in explaining to us what happened to us because of Adam's transgression and what is ours because of what Jesus did. So, Adam disobeyed and we came under condemnation, we came under sin, we came under satan, we were in a place of bondage. But Jesus came and because of His obedience, God's abundant grace was extended to us and we were given the gift of righteousness. So instead of condemnation, we are now receiving grace in abundance and the gift of righteousness. So, Adam brought condemnation, sin and condemnation, which placed us in subjection and made us slaves. Paul is saying, through Christ, we receive abundance of grace and righteousness and what is the result of us receiving abundance of grace and righteousness? Are we still going to be slaves? No, no. We are going to reign in life through Jesus Christ. So, the way we live life is also changed. Not only do we are we recipients of God's abundant grace and righteousness, but what happens to us in life changes. We now reign in life, we are no longer servants and slaves and in bondage, but we live as people who are reigning in life. Now when we talk about reigning in life, that obviously implies walking with dominion and authority. The word ‘reign’ means to rule, it means to exercise authority, exercise dominion as we understand from a point of view of somebody who's a ruler. That's what Paul is saying, we are no longer in subjection to whatever Adam subjected us to. The grace of God and the righteousness of God that has come into our lives has now put us in a place of authority, mastery and dominion over everything Adam subjected us to, that includes satan and all his demonic powers. So, as a believer, because you have received abundance of grace and God's gift of righteousness, you are in authority and dominion over satan and his demons. Now, it's time for you to exercise that, it's time for you to walk, to reign in life as somebody with God-given authority. So, when you face the works of darkness, don't just take it, but you say, "satan, I command you to stop in the name of Jesus, I command this confusion to stop in the name of Jesus, I command this disturbance in my workplace to stop in the name of Jesus, I command this trouble in my home to stop, I command this problem over my finances to stop." You are declaring, you’re reigning in life through Jesus Christ. Remember, the Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes, where the word of a king is, there is power. You've got to speak those words to exercise authority. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness that has made us to reign in life through Christ. Help us to do that, live like that and we thank you, in Jesus' name, Amen.
