Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in God’s word and in prayer. This week, we’ve been taking excerpts from the book of Revelation. We’ll wrap up this week talking about take these words to heart. Revelations chapter 22, verses 12 and 13, ‘“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.’ The closing words in the book of Revelations chapter 22 provide a fitting conclusion. The churches in Revelation chapter 2 and 3 were praised according to their faithfulness and they were challenged to continue in spite of opposition and persecutions even to the point of death. Here, Jesus blesses His followers and urges them to wait for His glorious return. Jesus says, look I am coming soon, my reward is with me and I’ll give to each person according to what they have done. Nearly 2000 years ago, Jesus made this proclamation and He still hasn’t come yet. It is fair to ask what Jesus meant when He said, behold, I am coming soon. The Greek word translated ‘soon’ here is ‘takus’, a word that denotes immediacy or suddenness. The book of Revelations presents a series of events that precedes to Jesus’ return on the earth. He says, behold I am coming quickly but He doesn’t say He is coming right away. Jesus’ coming will be sudden and hasty but there are many prophetic fulfillments that will happen before He comes. One way that we can prepare to meet Jesus is by keeping the words of this prophecy. We keep the prophecy by imitating Christ and what He commands us to do. We keep the prophecy by heeding to implicit warnings. We keep the prophecy by seeing the world the way God sees it. We keep the prophecy by living constantly and consistently in God’s word. We keep the prophecy by living our identity in Christ. The revelation of Jesus Christ has been given to supply the church with courage and hope, grounded in the one, the Son of God. He gave His life as a payment for my sin and He is the Son of man who sits at the right hand of the Father reigning over the church and ruling over the kings of the earth. Jesus is Lord over all. Nothing has happened and will happen apart from His rule. The church by faith in Jesus Christ will gather at the banquet of the kingdom and will live forever with Him in heaven. He who testifies of these things says, ‘yes, I am coming soon.’ Jesus, the lamb, is full of mercy, ready to wash our sins away, don’t wait any longer. Come to Him today and wash your robes. Let us pray, Father, we thank you for this week and for teaching us from the book of Revelation. Lord, there is so much that we have to learn and understand from your word and we pray that you will grant us your spirit of wisdom and discernment to understand your precepts, to walk in authority and power, yet with love. Thank you that you are coming soon and we eagerly expect your coming that even as we are here on earth, help us to fulfill every plan and purpose you have for us, to build your kingdom here on earth, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
