Greetings and thank you once again for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments with you. This week, we are considering the word of the Lord for 2024- conquer through faith. I want to bring our attention today on subduing adversaries. Hebrews chapter 11, verse 33, the writer of Hebrews says, talking about God’s people in the Old Testament, ‘who through faith subdued kingdoms,’ that means they overpowered kingdoms. If you look back at some of the things that actually happened when God was leading His people, Deuteronomy chapter 7, He says, you are going to face kings and kingdoms who are much bigger than you, people who are much greater than you but because I’m with you, you are going to subdue them and conquer them, that was in their context. Now, today, we are not involved in a natural battle by any means, we are not fighting flesh and blood but our adversaries are spiritual and what the enemy is trying to do to keep us from experiencing God, His promises, His goodness and all those kinds of things. He is trying to steal, kill and destroy but we do the same things; through faith, we subdue our adversaries. Through faith, we conquer things that may seem insurmountable, things that may seem bigger and greater than us, through faith we subdue. What must we do? Have faith in God, that is what God wanted of His people then and that is what He wants us of now as well. Build strong faith in God, go to His word, take a hold of His holy word and say, God, this is what you have spoken and with faith in God and His word, I’m going to fight because I want to subdue this adversary or whatever the things are, it is different for each one of us in our lives, what each of us are facing but you say, God, I’m going to subdue. This year 2024, subdue your adversaries, conquer through faith in God, take a hold of the scriptures and promises and say, I’m going to believe this word and through faith, I will subdue each and every adversary. I’m not going to live on the victim’s side but on the victor’s side. God has brought me there, God brings you there, let’s live that way. Let’s pray, Father, I ask in Jesus’s name that for each one of us, we will subdue our adversaries. Whatever it might be, things that are troubling us, our body or mind or in our circumstances/ situations or wherever, help us through faith, to subdue our adversaries, to conquer through faith, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
