Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shadow Work (Daily Devotional)

by Ps Paul Emmanuel

Greetings and welcome once again to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for this time that you've given us to just spend a few moments in God's word and prayer. This week, we've been looking at the letter of Hebrews and today we'll look at ‘shadow work’. Hebrews chapter 9, verse 9, ‘this is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshipper.’ Illustrations are used all the time, in teaching, in speeches and in sermons. Illustrations can help bring out a certain point or a topic. The writer of Hebrews here explains that the tabernacle of the old covenant was merely an illustration of the true tabernacle in heaven. It was intended to help God's people understand what God had planned for them in the future. The idea has been explained in terms of shadows and copies but now the writer is coming to the heart of this discussion. The tabernacle was given to God's people to help draw them closer to God and because of their hard-heartedness, God sent Jesus to show them what He really intended. Jesus came to draw us closer to God. Now, if you and I walk along a city street light on a bright, sunny day, you will come across shadows. The shadows won't really affect your walk, for example, you can walk through the shadow of a light pole because you know that that's just the shadow of the pole. But it does but it does make you aware of that there is a pole near you. Yet, many people still lose sight of who Jesus really was. The work of Christ shows that the elements of the old covenant were pointing to Him and were intended to draw people closer to God. When Christ came, the old regulations and rules were set aside and they were merely an illustration to help God's people to understand what He planned to do. Jesus represents the new covenant and His work is far superior than that of the priests of the old covenant. Unfortunately, people lost sight looking only at the shadow instead of looking at the real work of God. The priests that God ordained in the old covenant served in the tabernacle that was a shadow or a copy of what was in heaven. Jesus Christ came into this world so that we no longer need temple priests to intercede for us because He Himself intercedes for us and He made the perfect sacrifice providing forgiveness for sins once and for all. Instead of looking at shadows, we are called to look at Jesus, the author and the completer of our faith. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for your word. We thank you that you're calling each one of us to look to you. Lord, when we look to you, we will never be ashamed. We thank you that you have given us your word that every time we read your word, we are drawing closer to you. Thank you for the price that you have paid. I pray God that each one of us will continue to grow in the things of God, we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
