Greetings and I trust you've had a good week so far. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to come to you today as well.
This week we've been talking about being imitators of God based on Ephesians chapter 5 and verse 1 where the apostle Paul teaches us ‘be imitators of God as dear children.’ One of the outcomes or perhaps you could even say objectives of imitating God is that we would be people who reveal Him to others. If you go back to the garden of Eden, go back to the very first chapter in the book of Genesis and we look at God's original intent and God's original design in creating man, He created man in His own image. In doing so, He was giving man the capacity to reveal God. We are created in His own image and likeness that automatically gives us the capacity to reveal Him.
So, God could be revealed through us, and the way God has revealed through us, today in our day in our time, is as we imitate Him. The apostle Paul in another place in first Corinthians chapter 11 and verse one, he said this, he said, ‘imitate me just as I also imitate Christ.’ Now that's a huge statement. Think about it, he's turning around to people, and he says, hey, just do as I do, follow me, just imitate me because I'm imitating Christ. The obvious in that statement is, Christ is revealed through the apostle Paul and therefore people can see that and just follow that. In other words, he's saying, I'm modeling Christ to you, you follow me and if you just see what I'm modeling for you, you're going to end up imitating Christ because I know I'm imitating Christ, I'm modeling Christ to you and that's a big statement. That should be each of our hearts desire and our goal that we so imitate God that God is revealed through us and hopefully someday we will be able to, with all humility tell people hey just follow me, just do what you see in me because Christ is revealed through me because I'm imitating Christ. May we all come to that place sooner than later, may God help us to do that.
Let's pray, Father, we ask that you will help us so imitate Christ, that Christ would be revealed in our lives, that others can see Christ, see you O God in us, so that they too may be inspired to follow that example, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
