Hello everyone and welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotions by All People's church, where we take a few minutes to spend time in God's word, to build our faith up and to live a life that is fruitful for God's kingdom. This week, we've been looking at the theme receiving God's guidance and understanding how God guides us every step of the way; look at scriptures and to discover how He guides each one of us. Today, we want to just focus on how God guides us through God's word. Psalm chapter 119, verse 105, it says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." God's word is a lamp to every step we take and a light to our path. God's word enlightens our path and so we know that God's word has to be our foundation. Jesus says this in Matthew chapter 24, verse 35, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." He also tells us this parable where everyone who hears these words of mine will be like a man like a wise man that builds his house on the rock. So, one of the most important ways that we can discover God's plan and God's purposes is through God's word. We remind ourselves that when we read the Bible or when we open up the scriptures, these are not these words of ink on a paper, but they are living, they are alive. The apostle Paul says, "God's word is God's breath." And so, as we read God's word, His breath, His living breath is being inspired inside each one of us. And so, we understand that God's word is alive and active. As we read God's word every day, it speaks to us. We are not just reading simple words that are written on paper, but the Holy Spirit inspires us. He brings His very ‘rhema’ word, the living word, inside of our spirits, inside of our hearts, to encourage us and to give us that instruction and counsel. Mary, in the New Testament, when she is interacting with the angel about Jesus, she says this, "May your word" and that word is the ‘rhema’ word, the living word, the now word, "May your word to me be fulfilled." And so, I pray that each one of us will intentionally spend time in God's word, to open up the scriptures, to read from the Old Testament to the New Testament, because every word in the Bible leads us and guides us. We remind ourselves that His word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. So, every step we take as we read God's word is being lit up, it is being enlightened, we get clarity. And so, I just want to encourage each one of us to open up our Bibles, spend a few minutes, start with a few minutes, spend long hours in God's word. Let's pray, Father, we just thank you for your word. We thank you for the scriptures that you have given us, that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God and I pray that each one of us will hear your word, especially to those of us who are in a season of confusion or are in darkness. We pray that your word will be your light, your light will come into every dark area, will bring clarity in every season that we go through. And so, Lord, we just thank you for your word, we thank you that your word is your breath. It breathes life inside of us and so Lord, we are so thankful for the scriptures, we are so thankful for the Bible that we hold today. We thank you Lord that your word leads us and guides us. We thank you for this truth and we thank you for this reminder, in Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
