Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally, thank you for taking the time to be part of today’s daily devotion. It is really good that you could be here and we could study the word of God together. The word of God is indeed sharper than any two edged sword, it is living and powerful, brings faith into our lives and it is so wonderful to be receiving and studying the word of God. We’ve been looking at this theme of ‘seek and pursue’. What the word of God instructs us as believers to seek and to pursue. Today, we are looking at what the word of God instructs us to pursue harmony and holiness. To study that, we are looking at Hebrews chapter 12, verse 14, which says, ‘Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.’ Pursue is to go after, run with an intention of winning the race, in fact that is the picture that we have, to earnestly endeavor and to acquire. What are we exhorted to do in this manner? We are called to pursue peace. The word used here in this particular verse is harmony or tranquility and it is in relation with other people. It says pursue peace with all people. We know that is not the easiest of things to pursue peace or harmony with all people. Where two or three are gathered, there is disagreement, conflict and differences of opinion because each one is unique, different and each one has their own likes and dislikes and set way of doing things but the bible instructs us which means it is a possibility to seek harmony or tranquility. The second thing is holiness with all people. In our relationships and interaction with people, to seek the peace, harmony and tranquility but also holiness, being set apart for God in thought, word and deed. In our interactions, being holy and set apart for God. It says that without these two things in place, no one will see the Lord, no one will look, observe, gaze, inspect, experience or encounter God. This is something that is important for us as believers to seek peace and holiness with all people. Romans chapter 12, verse 18 says, ‘If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.’ This means that there are certain things that are not in our control because there is the will, choice, decisions of other people involved in this communication and interaction but the bible says as much as depends on you, you do the right thing and you live peaceably with all men. Mathew chapter 5, verse 8, the outcome or the blessing, it says, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.’ Why don’t we pray as we are reminded of this instruction? Father, we thank you for this instruction to seek peace, harmony, tranquility and holiness in our relationship with people. We thank you that when we seek, we are blessed for we shall see or experience you and your presence. We thank you that in our interactions today, even as we go about this day, we pray that we will experience this, that this will be a tangible reality in our lives, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
