Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments with you. This week, we are talking about overcoming wrong thoughts, thoughts that are not aligned to the ways and thoughts of God, thoughts that are not pleasing to God. Wrong thoughts could be anything, either it is evil, lustful thoughts or thoughts of bitterness etc. that seek to do wrong. How do we keep our thoughts holy, clean, pure, pleasing to God, aligned to God and His ways? Another important insight that we learn from God’s word is that we need to wash our minds. Sometimes people use the word brainwash, sometimes our brains need that washing because our brains are so contaminated with all the filth and junk, we expose our brains to, they really need to be washed and cleaned, all the dirt and filth needs to be taken out. How do we do that/ reprogram/ retrain your mind? Well, God has said that His word has cleansing power. Jesus said in John chapter 15, verse 3, ‘you are clean through the word that I have spoken to you.’ God’s word is like water, it washes, it cleanses. In 1 Peter chapter 1, verse 22, Peter says, that ‘we have purified our minds by obeying the truth of God’s word.’ So, when you obey God’s word, you hear it, what happens? It purifies, it cleans out our minds. So, for some of yes, we need a lot of cleaning to happen in our own mind, all the filth needs to be taken out, how are we going to do it? Through the word of God; read and obey the word, read and do the word. So, you expose yourself to the bible, read it, practice it, what is going to happen? It is going to clean your mind of all the filth, it is going to give you a clean mind, a mind that can think aligned to the ways and thoughts of God. So, if somebody says, you are brainwashed, you say proudly, yes, my brain needed a lot of washing, all the filth needed to be taken out and I’m so happy I’ve used the word of God to clean up my mind. It is so liberating because now you can think good, clean thoughts and think aligned to ways and thoughts of God. Those people who tell us we have been brainwashed, they have no idea how liberating it is to be able to think holy, pure, aligned to the ways and thoughts of God, that is so liberating rather than having filthy, ungodly, impure thoughts running through our mind. How does that happen? By the word of God. Peter said, your purified in your mind by obeying the truth. Receive God’s word, obey it, purifies our mind. Let’s pray, Father, we ask that you will help us be people of pure minds, to have minds that are clean, cleansed, washed by the word so our thoughts can be clean and holy and pure and aligned to your ways and your thoughts. Thank you for the freedom we have in having pure minds, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
