Greetings and thank you for joining us today on our daily devotional. This week, we are looking at scriptures that remind us of God’s promise for our protection. We’re going to look at two passages from Psalms. Psalm chapter 27, verses 1 through 5, David said, ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation, Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle, He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.’ Look at David’s confidence in God’s protecting power over his life. David describes his situation- the wicked are coming against me, war may rise against me, enemies coming against me but he says the Lord is my light and salvation, what should I fear? He will hide me and protect me and therefore David says, I’m confident in this. My heart will not fear, I’m not going to be afraid. So that is the kind of assurance and place of confidence and security we can have in God, that God is our defender and protector from all kinds of calamities. Not just from the attacks of people- human violence or human works but all kinds, God is our protector and He keeps us safe. Psalm chapter 32, verse 7 he says, ‘You are my hiding place; You will preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.’ You will preserve me and protect me from trouble. So, let us make that our declaration that the Lord is our protector. He protects us from trouble. When the thought or fear comes that something bad is going to happen, you say, the Lord is my hiding place and He protects me from trouble. When thoughts of fear of what people will do to you, I will not fear what man shall do to me because the Lord keeps me in His secret place.

Let us pray, Father, we make your word our declaration, that you protect us from trouble and preserve us from all evil and keep us safe in your hiding place, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
