Greetings and thank you for joining us today on our daily devotional. It is always our joy to spend these few minutes with you and in the word and prayer. This week, we are looking at the priestly garments that God had prescribed for the priesthood in the Old Testament and drawing insights from each piece of these garments and what they would mean to us as holy and royal priests in the New Testament. The last piece of the attire was a turban, a head covering that was intricately made to cover the head and on top of the turban was a gold plate that had the words ‘holy to the Lord’ written/ inscribed on the gold plate which was fixed onto the turban which the priest wore. God actually called it a crown that is holy. The most important thing here is the fact that this turban carried the words ‘holy to the Lord’ indicting that the priest would now go before God as someone completely consecrated, dedicated to the Lord and he would on behalf of the people make atonement, bear their sins, do the things that were needed to bear their sins for the people. Coming in to the New Testament, God is saying that you and I are holy unto the Lord and you are I are called to be holy priests unto God. Peter in 1 Peter chapter 2, he says, we are a holy priesthood and he tells us there in chapter 1, ‘be holy even as God who has called you is holy.’ He tells us in 1 Peter chapter 2, verse 11, that we are strangers and pilgrims and so we abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul. So, as holy and royal priests, there is something inscribed on us and it says, we are holy to the Lord. We are consecrated to God and dedicated to Him. So, we minister from that place of total consecration and being set apart for God, that is our call as priests unto the Lord.

Let us pray, Father, we ask that you will help us live holy unto the Lord, to keep ourselves consecrated unto the Lord and from that place, we carry out our service as a royal priesthood for your honor and glory that we may show forth your glory and your beauty even as you have desired, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
