Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Pride (Daily Devotional)

Hello and welcome to Living supernaturally. We hope you have been having a good week. In this series, we have been looking at God’s word and how His word is an antidote for everything that can be damaging to the life of a believer. An antidote is a medicine that is taken to counteract a poison. So, God’s word is like that- it is health to all our flesh, it is life to those who find them and health to all the flesh. In this series we have been looking at that. The antidote that God’s word is for something that is so subtle but can be damaging for the life of a believer. God’s word is the antidote for pride. This is what happens when a person has pride in their lives. James chapter 4, verses 6 and 7 says, ‘but He gives more grace, therefore He says: “God resists the proud”. Now that is a very startling statement and startling thing to experience. We’ve experienced the favor of God, love of God, the grace of God; how will it be to experience the resistance/ the push back from God? Here it says that God resists the proud, but He gives grace to the humble. Verse 7 says, ‘therefore submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.’ James chapter 4 verse 10 says, ‘humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.’ Another scripture that helps us is Philippians chapter 2 verses 3 and 4 which says, ‘Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit/ pride, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.’ What do we get as we put together these thoughts and instructions? Firstly, we need to submit to God; God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble and a sign of humility is to submit to God. What does submit to God mean? It means to submit to the authority of His word, first and foremost and obey the word of God and to bring ourselves and our lives under the authority/ leadership of His word. It also means to come to a place of humility to receive His grace; when we receive His grace, we are given the authority to resist the instructions of the enemy. The other thing that we see is that, when we humble ourselves under the might hand of God, when we agree with God and see things from His perspective and when we see what God says about us and others, we see that we will be lifted up; God exalts us. In Philippians chapter 2 we saw this: let each esteem others better than himself. The other thing that we see here or the key for walking in humility is to be ‘others’ focused- we esteem others better than ourselves; we look out for the interests of others in addition to our own interests. We see that this is an antidote for pride which is laid out very clearly in God’s word. We will experience the exaltation from the Lord, we will see pride exit and we will see the entry us being humble and we will experience the quality of humility. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for this instruction in your Word, we thank you Lord that even as we humble ourselves under your mighty hand you will lift us up. We thank you that even as we turn our focus from ourselves onto others, that we will experience this quality of humility and we will see the exit of pride. Father, we thank you and we pray that you will empower us to experience this daily in our lives, in Jesus’s matchless name we pray, Amen.
