Hello and thank you so much for another opportunity to come to you and spend a few moments in the word of God and in prayer with you. We trust that each and every day, as we spend these few moments together, you are being encouraged and strengthened in your walk with God. Remember, God is at work in and through His church and God is speaking to each of us by His Spirit and of course, through His written word, God continues to speak to us and we must pay attention to what the Spirit of the Lord is saying. We have been talking about what to do when we receive a prophecy or a prophetic word and we’ve been touching on various aspects of what we should do. Today, I want to highlight the fact that when we receive a word of prophecy, we need to pray it through to fulfillment. Many of us have this wrong idea that just because God has given us a prophetic word, that will automatically be fulfilled, that is not true! All personal prophecy is conditional, whether conditions are stated or not, that means, there is a ‘if’ to every promise especially when it is personal prophecy, when God says, I will do this, this, this through you, I will use you in such, such such ways or I will fulfill this, this, this in your life, He may not state the conditions, but there are conditions that are implicit meaning it is implicit that we walk with God, we stay faithful to Him, we live a life of obedience, all these things are implied. God doesn’t need to repeat those things every time a word of prophecy is given to us. One of those implicit things is that we must pray that prophecy into fulfillment. Let’s just point to two examples in the bible. One is in 1 Kings chapter 18, when God tells Elijah saying, ‘Elijah, I’m going to cause it to rain, I want you to go tell king Ahab that it is going to rain.’ There had been no rain for three and a half years. So, Elijah goes and tells king Ahab that God says it is going to rain. Elijah doesn’t go to sleep after that. What does he do? We know the story; he goes up to mount Carmel and he engages in prayer. The prayer that he engages in, is very intense. We don’t know how many hours that would have taken. Seven times he tells his servant to go and look and see if there is anything coming out of the sea. That could have been an extended time of prayer, that he engages in prayer. God had spoken but a man on earth had to pray until it was fulfilled. Take the example of Daniel. God had spoken through the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah saying after 70 years of captivity, I will bring my people out of Babylon to the land that I have allotted for them. When Daniel understands that the time had come for God to fulfill it, we see in Daniel chapter 9 that Daniel gets into prayer and he goes before God and says, ‘you have spoken through your prophets saying that you will take us back to our land, I’m praying for our people, forgive our sins and take us back to our land.’ So, Daniel is engaging in prayer for that. We know how God responds, God sends the angel and says, ‘Daniel you are a man greatly beloved of God. From the time you begin to pray, God heard your prayer.’ It tells us that while God speaks, we must engage in prayer. So, take the word of prophecy and pray through over it. Pray it through until you see it fulfilled. Don’t sleep over your prophecy, pray it through to fulfillment. Let’s pray, Father, we ask in Jesus’ name that you will stir us up to take every word you have spoken by your Spirit and to see that word fulfilled in and through our lives, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
