Not Ashamed Of The Gospel (Daily Devotional)

Greetings and thank you for the opportunity to come to you today and spend these few moments in God's word and in prayer. We're talking this week on personal evangelism, igniting our passion for souls and today I want to bring our attention to Romans chapter 1, verse 16, where the apostle Paul writes this, he says, ‘for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.’ There are two things I want to just highlight here where Paul says that the gospel is the power of God for salvation. So, when we are sharing the gospel that is the message about Jesus Christ with people, maybe you are sitting with someone one, one on one, just sharing Jesus with them or doing something to encourage them to explore Jesus Christ or maybe even answering questions about Jesus or just giving a little nod or a nudge pointing them towards Jesus or praying for them in the name of Jesus; whatever we are doing, as we're bringing the message of Jesus, we must understand that that message of Jesus is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. Meaning just by hearing that message that we are sharing, as simple as it may be, we setting that person up to experience the power of God at work in their lives which can result in their eternal salvation if they will believe of course. But that's the sequence and it begins with you and me just bringing that simple message of Jesus Christ to them. That as we bring the message of Jesus to them, we are setting things up for them to encounter the power of God. It may be just a simple thing; you're telling them about Jesus but the power of God is about to work in their lives so that they can experience salvation that comes from God. Something that has eternal consequences for their lives, the power of God for salvation if they will believe. The second thing Paul says is, I am not ashamed of this gospel because knowing how powerful this is, knowing what this can do for somebody, knowing how significant this is, the simple message of Jesus Christ. Paul says I'm not ashamed of this gospel because I know what it can do. People may laugh at us, people may think we're crazy, people may think all kinds of things about us but we are not ashamed to speak and present the message of Jesus Christ. And that's the way you and I should be, having this passion for souls knowing that this message of Jesus can result in their salvation and therefore we are not ashamed to speak for Jesus anywhere, any time and to any person. That's the passion that must grip us! Let's pray, Father, we ask that you will stir up within us a holy passion. Make us unashamed of the gospel of Jesus because we know it is the power of God for salvation to anyone and everyone who believes. Move upon us we pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
