Hello and welcome, you're watching Living Supernaturally, which is the daily devotion of All People's church. We are definitely glad that you could be here so that we can study God's word together. For today's devotion, we are looking into God's word and we are looking actually at the first epistle that John writes and there are several scriptures that talk about God's love or the different aspects of God's love and what it does to us and how we need to engage and how we need to put to practice God's love. So, let's look at 1 verse today which is 1 John chapter 2, verses 5 and 6 which says, ‘whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.’ Let's look at verse 5, it says, "But whoever keeps His word truly the love of God is perfected in him." So, the focus there is on keeping the word of God or allowing the word of God to take root in our hearts. The word ‘keep’ also means to protect, to make sure that it is not snatched away, it is not taken away from us. So, make sure to guard the word of God and to make sure that it remains within truly what happens as a consequence of that is that the love of God is perfected. The love of God which means the God kind of love, the agape love of God is perfected in such a person, it's brought to maturity, it's brought to perfection in such a person. John writes and he says, ‘by this we know that we are in Him.’ That we are we continue to abide in Him, that we stay in Him, connected to Him, meaning that the word of God does this. So, even as we keep the word of God, even as we intentionally abide in the word of God, the love of God is perfected and the love of God is brought to maturity. We know that the love of God is powerful. The love of God is what leads a person to repentance because it says the goodness of God expressed in the love of God, that is what leads a person to even repent and then there's a change in destiny that happens because of that. Verse 6 says, ‘he who saith he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.’ And so, as we abide in Him, as we stay in Him, we have to walk just as He walked. He walked in power, He walked in compassion, He walked in love. What will help us to walk just as the Lord walked? When the scripture says ‘walk’, it means to live daily. What will enable us to live like Him? It is that the work of His Spirit in us and the love of God that is perfected in us. So, as we pray, we can pray for this and say, Lord, I want to stay in your word, I want to protect your word and be rooted in your word but let your love be perfected in me because you desire for me to walk just like how you walked. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for your word. Thank you for enabling us to stay in your word. Thank you for the work of your Holy Spirit that enables us to be rooted in your word and grounded in your word. Lord, we ask, let your love be perfected in us, let your love be brought to fruition and to maturity in us that we may live and do the things just like you lived and did when you ministered on earth, we thank you, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
