We are studying God’s word today and looking at the topic of lie versus the truth. Welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotional of All People’s church. Today, we are looking at this aspect of walking with God. In this whole area of walking with God, can there be some lies we have entertained or believed in and therefore it is affecting our walk with God? Well, lie number one we could believe is that I have failed too many times to walk closely with God, therefore it is never going to happen. The truth is this, James chapter 4, verse 8 says, ‘Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.’ Well, that is an encouragement, draw near to God and He will draw near to you. 1 John chapter 1, verse 9, talks about even if we are messed up, failed to draw near to God or even if we are intentionally hurt Him, displeased Him and sinned, it says, ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ Another lie that we could believe is that I don’t feel God, so, He must have left me, I don’t feel Him at all. Well, the truth is this, Hebrews chapter 13, verse 5, it says, ‘For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”’ The Lord Jesus has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. The writer of Hebrews is pointing to that and says, He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. John chapter 14, verses 16 and 17, the Lord Jesus while talking about the Holy Spirit says, ‘And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.’ Such a wonderful promise about the Holy Spirit from the Lord Jesus and He is saying, I will pray and give you another helper, the Holy Spirit who will stay, abide and dwell in you forever. So, the thing is this that we are called to live our life by faith and not by feelings. Our emotions can go up and down but what steadies/ anchors us is our faith in God and in His word. If we have entertained these lies, it is time to reject those lies and hold on to this truth especially with our walk with God and say, yes, as I draw near to God, He will draw near to me. As I confess my sin, He is faithful to forgive me of all unrighteousness. The Lord Himself has said that He will never leave me nor forsake and the Lord Jesus has promised the Holy Spirit who will abide with me forever and will be with me always.

Shall we pray? Father, we thank you for the promise in scripture and the power of the truth of your word. Let the power of your truth set us free from all kinds of lies and deceptions. Whatever be the lies we may have entertained in the past, I pray it will be removed in the name of Jesus and let your truth be the anchor for us. We thank you; we give you all the praise and glory, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
