Welcome to Living Supernaturally, the daily devotional of All People’ church. We hope that you’re being blessed as much as we are blessed bringing this and studying God’s word together with you. We have been looking at the miracles of the Lord Jesus when He ministered on the earth. The bible specifically says that He did it by the power of the Holy Spirit which means that the Lord turning around and saying, the things I do, you will do also, he who believes will do also. He says this because it is the same Holy Spirit who dwells in us and works through us to bring these things to pass for His glory. Today, we are looking at how the Lord Jesus heals the blind man and specifically, we are looking at John chapter 9, verses 1 through 11, and this is a man who had never had vision in his eyes for his entire life time up till then. It says here that he was blind from birth. The disciples asked this question when they see this man who had not seen a single day in his life. They said, why? What is the source of his blindness? Was it his sin, did he do something specific that opened the door for this condition or was it his parents, who sinned? So, the Lord says, neither he nor his parents sinned but that the works of God should be revealed in him and he goes on to minister to that man. He spits on the ground, makes clay with his saliva, anoints the eyes of the blind man with that and asks him to wash in the pool of Silom. So, this man goes, washes and comes back seeing. What a day in his life! What joy there must have been when he experienced that healing. Several things we learn from here. What caused that blindness? It is not a particular sin but because of the fall of man. It is not he or his parents that sinned and because of which he was undergoing that particular condition. So, sometimes we ask the Lord, why am I going through this? Is it because of something I’ve done or others have done? It need not be. It could be because of the fall of man, because of the fact that the whole creation is under the bondage of sin. How is God glorified? Well, the Lord says that God might be glorified that the works of God might be revealed. God was glorified in that person getting healed. So, he could see and God was glorified. In fact, we see that yes, he received sight, he glorified God, the others who saw that, they glorified God. So, the works of God were revealed though the man getting healed. The third thing we see is that he obeyed. He had never seen in his entire lifetime. It was easy for him to dismiss that instruction, why should I go and wash? From the time I was born, I could never see, but he obeyed. These are some things that we learn from this incident. So, today, if you are going though some symptoms or problems, let faith rise up in us as we pray today.
Let’s pray, Father, we thank you and pray especially for those who are undergoing some kind of symptom in their body/ mind, or some kind of sickness. We draw near to you because you are the healer. We thank you that you’re the one who heals, delivers and even today, we ask that you will do so and whatever you instruct us to do, in your wisdom, we pray that we will be careful to obey it fully and we know that we will experience the supernatural. We thank you; we give you the praise and glory, in Jesus’ matchless name we pray, Amen.
