Shalom, it's a joy to come here to look at God's word alongside with you in this episode of
Living Supernaturally. Yesterday, we started on a new series and we are looking into what it
means to be an instrument in God's hands. We looked at yesterday of how we need to have
willing hearts in order to be used as an instrument in God's hands. Today, we see that in order
to be an instrument, we need to yield. Yielding to God and yielding to the call of God to be an
instrument is living a life of surrender, where all your actions are guided by the wisdom and the
power of God rather than your own. It signifies a willingness to be used by God in order to bring
transformation or encouragement or His love to the world outside. So, to be an effective
instrument, we must be yielded to God. In Isaiah chapter 64, verse 8, it reads "Oh Lord, you are
our Father, we are the clay, and you are potter; and all we are the work of your hand.’ A life
that is yielded to God is very much like clay in the hands of a potter. The clay is moldable, it is
responsible and it is useful for the craftsman/ for the potter. When we surrender our will to
God and allow Him to shape us into instruments, we are fit for His service. Being an instrument
is not about striving in our own strength but it is to draw strength from God, it is to allow Him
to work in and through us so that we are effective instruments for Him. So, yielding means
three things- it means surrender, where we let go of our personal plan and look to God. We let
go of our personal control of how things should be and we look to God. The second thing it
involves is trust; it is to trust that God has a bigger and a better plan than you and I can fathom.
We may not understand the plan but God knows the entire picture and we trust God. And the
last thing it involves is obedience. It is to do what God wants us to do even when it may be
difficult or even when it may be inconvenient. So, yielding is not a passive action but it is active.
It's an active choice to align everything of ourselves in to God. It's a deliberate act of surrender,
trust and obedience. We see an example of Mary who was used as an instrument in the hands
of God to carry out God's plan of bringing the Savior into the world. We see how Mary
surrendered completely to God's plan even when it was unexpected and challenging. She
surrendered and she said "Let it be to me according to your word." She trusted and obeyed God
even though she couldn't see the plan of God. What is God calling you to do and how can you
yield to Him today? If God has called you to be His instrument, He will equip you just as much
so yield to Him. Let's pray together, Heavenly Father, we pray that we will surrender, we will
trust and we will obey you and Lord, we will yield to your plan and purpose for our lives so that
we can be effective instruments, we can be effective people who bring about an impact and
influence to the world around. Thank you, Father, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
