Greetings and thank you so much for this opportunity to come to you this week and spend a few moments with you each day and in the word of God and prayer. This week, we're going to delve into a topic or a theme that perhaps has been neglected in the life of the church and in the whole discipleship process that the contemporary church is involved in. Many times, when we think about growing as believers, we think a lot about what God can do for us and how to have faith in God and how to believe God for various things and enjoy the blessings of God. All of those things are good and they are true, they are biblical but perhaps in the process of that we have neglected some of those very foundational aspects of our lives as disciples and one of those areas is personal evangelism. Even as I was thinking about this, I was reflecting back on my own early days and journey as a Christian, the tremendous passion that gripped my heart and the hearts of the other believers among whom we were all growing up together. We were so passionate for evangelism, wanting to just find somebody, tell somebody about Jesus and share this message of the gospel. We were young people, we had not yet read the entirely of the New Testament, much less the whole Bible and yet we were so passionate about wanting other people to know Jesus Christ. I feel that somewhere along the way, we seem to have lost that same passion and what I want to do this week and in some of the coming weeks is just to try to recover that and reignite that passion in our own lives so that we can be busy or just being ready to share the gospel and lead people to their own experience in Jesus Christ. So, we're going to talk about these things and uncover, unravel, reignite this passion for souls. So, let's begin today by just thinking about this that if our gospel is hid, it is hid from those who are eternally perishing. The apostle Paul wrote about this in 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verses 3 and 4, he said, ‘but even if our gospel is veiled or hid, it is veiled from those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.’ So, what Paul is telling us is if our gospel or the good news of Jesus is hidden, it's veiled, it's kept away from other people coming to know about it, what he's wanting us to understand is, it is being kept away from those who are perishing that means they are going into an eternity without God. They're going to be eternally separated from God in hell, they are on that road to perishing, eternally dying. If our gospel is kept away from them or the gospel of Jesus Christ has kept away from them, that's what's going to happen to them. I want that to grip our hearts that we too will understand the magnitude of and the greatness of what God has given to us, of the responsibility of bringing the gospel to people. If our gospel is kept away, it's kept away from those who are perishing and so we have an obligation to bring it to them. Let's pray, Father, this week as we reignite Lord our the call to personal evangelism and passion for souls, we ask that the Holy Spirit will come upon us like fire, igniting within us that passion to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, the same passion that filed the early church may fill our hearts today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
