Greetings and thank you for this opportunity to come to you and spend these few minutes with you in the word of God and prayer. Today, we have been reflecting on our identity in Christ, going back to some familiar texts of scripture, just to remind us of who we are in Christ. Today, we go to Colossians chapter 1 and verse 12, the apostle Paul writes here, he says, "Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light." A simple verse but so powerful. He says, let's give thanks to God, let's worship God, let's praise Him, be thankful to Him because He has qualified us to partake or to enjoy our share of the inheritance that He has for His own people. I want to emphasize the word ‘qualified’. To qualify means to make us fit worthy of. You see many of us as believers we feel unqualified or disqualified, we feel like that blessing somebody else can enjoy, they're more spiritual than me, they pray more a lot more than me, they read the Bible a lot more than me, they know a lot more scripture than me, etc. I'm not as qualified as they are, maybe I'm not even qualified for anything that God may have. Now, that's a wrong way to think. What does the Bible tell us? Colossians chapter 1, verse 12, ‘Thanks be to God who has qualified us, meaning He's qualified each one of us, every believer, He's made us fit, He's made us worthy, He has certified us so to speak, He says I am making you qualified, I am telling you- you are worthy to enjoy every blessing that I have for my people. So, some of us say maybe God doesn't want me to be healed, maybe God doesn't want me to do well in life, maybe God doesn't want me to succeed. Now, why are you thinking like that? Because underneath all of that thought is maybe I'm not worthy, maybe I'm not fit to have this blessing and that's a wrong thought that is not scriptural. The scriptural Bible way to think is I'm a believer and God has qualified me to enjoy the inheritance, the blessing that He has for His sons and daughters, every blessing. And God has no favorites, God is not a partial God, whatever He gives, He makes available to all of us and God is qualified to you. So, the next time you read about a blessing that's in the scriptures, you read it and say, "Thank you, God, I'm qualified to enjoy this, I receive it into my life and I want to walk in it." How that blessing would express itself in your life? Of course, it varies for each of us because we're all doing different things. But you are as qualified as any other child of God to enjoy every blessing that God has for His people. So go for it, let nothing hold you back. Reach out, take it, and say, "I want to enjoy what my heavenly Father has for each and every one of His children." Let's pray, Father, we thank you that you've qualified each one of us to enjoy the inheritance you give to your children, to your people. May we reach out, take it, walk in it and enjoy every provision you've made for your people, in Jesus' name, Amen.
