Greetings and thank you for joining us today for these few moments in God's word and in prayer. It's always a joy to come to you and spend this time with you. This week, we are revisiting a topic that's very dear to our hearts, just reminding ourselves of our identity in Christ. We go today to 1 Corinthians chapter 1 and verse 30, the scripture teaches us here, the apostle Paul writes, "But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God - and righteousness and sanctification and redemption." The apostle Paul was given this very powerful revelation to the church of who believers are in Christ. And so, we find this in most of the epistles of the apostle Paul where he talks to us about who we are in Christ. More than 130 or 140 scripture references that speak to the believer of who we are in Christ. Now in this verse, in verse 30 of 1 Corinthians chapter 1, Paul is telling us that it is God who has brought us into union with Christ, that means we didn't get in there by ourselves, God put us in there. It's of Him, God took us and put us in Christ. So, this is really a work of God. This is an expression of the heart of God. This is what God desired for us. He said, "I want you to be here united spiritually in Christ." So, spiritually we are in Him. Physically, we're all living in separate bodies and doing our own things, but spiritually all of us are in Christ. We are in union with Him. What does it mean to be in union with Christ? He's telling us here who of God is made unto us and here's just a short list. He just mentions three or four things here. But the point is how God having brought us into Christ, putting us in Christ, now what happens is all who Christ is, is now made available to the believer and that's what he's saying. Who of God is made unto us? And he begins to list some things. He's made unto us wisdom from God, He's made unto us righteousness from God, He's made unto us sanctification, He's made unto us redemption. And this, of course, is not a complete list, but what Paul is saying is this. God put us into union with Christ and the moment we've come into Christ, all who Christ is has become ours. All what Christ has, has now become ours. And so, in our union with Christ, in our identity with Christ, everything that Jesus has, has been made available to us. Christ is our wisdom. Christ is our redemption. He's a redeemer, we have redemption. Christ is our righteousness. Christ is our sanctification. He's the sanctifier, we've been made sanctified. So, all who Jesus is now covers us because we are in union with Him. So, this is something for us to think about, that the life that we have in Christ is really a life that comes from Him and all who He is has now been made available to us. We need to understand that and then begin to live out of our life in Christ. A statement we make very often is this, who you are in Christ is who you really are, that means that's your real identity. We need to have a mind shift, begin to think of our identity as from Christ and not just from our natural life that we have and then learn how to live out of that life we have in Christ, which we're going to do in the coming days. Let's pray, Father, we thank you that you brought us into Christ and all who Christ is, has been made available to us and we live out of our union with Christ. Teach us more, open our hearts, help us to change our thinking and the way we live, in Jesus' name, Amen.
