Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for this opportunity to minister to each one of you through God’s word and spend a few moments in prayer. Today, we will be talking about ‘honor your parents’. Deuteronomy chapter 5, verse 16, ‘Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.’ The commandment and the blessing that is attached to this, is repeated all through the Old and the New Testament but what does it mean to honor your father and mother? The Oxford dictionary says honor means to regard someone with great respect or high esteem. It also regarded as a rare opportunity and bringing pride and pleasure and it is also called a privilege. Both of these describe what it means to honor your parents. So, when honoring our parents, it is essential that we must show them respect, accept their authority, obey and appreciate them. The question is why does God ask us to honor our parents? First of all, God invested in relationships and He desired relationships for each one of us. To illustrate the structure of relationship, God designed family. The way to respect parents says a lot of how we will respect our God. Honoring our father and mother teaches us how to honor our Heavenly Father. Remember that others are observing the way you honor your parents and God, your siblings, your friends will learn from our example and some day when you are a parent, your children will look up to the way that you honor your parents. Living together in a household of 2 or 3 generations or more was a common tradition that was followed in Israel and also in societies today. This command was not written only for little children because they have no choice but to honor their parents. This command was given to each and everyone of us. There are times when young people act worse towards their parents than anyone else. They berate their parents because they aren’t up to the latest technology or trends, they throw a fit when sometimes asked to do a simple task or when another adult says, you have a wonderful child, the parent is stunned and astonished. Our best and worst behavior is shown in our families. Honoring your parents will bring a blessing in each of our lives. This command closes with a promise saying that God gives us life and blessings from honoring our parents. Let’s do this today, let us honor our parents. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for this command, this exhortation that you have given us to honor our parents. No matter what age, or where we are in our walk with you, help us by the power of your Holy Spriit to walk in a way that is pleasing in your sight, to obey your commands and to honor our father and mother. We thank you for breaking every hindrance and helping us to walk in your love, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
