Holy Temple (Daily Devotional)

Hello everyone, welcome. We’re talking about the holiness of God. Today, we will consider the holiness of God’s dwelling place or the temple of God, the place where God dwells, it’s the temple of God. We see that holiness is what adorns the dwelling place of God. In Psalm chapter 93, verse 5, we read, ‘Your testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.’ Holiness is what decorates God’s house and we see that God’s dwelling place is usually attached to the word ‘holy’. God’s dwelling place is called as the holy hill and holy mountain in some places, there is a reference to holy place, holy sanctuary, holy habitation and so something that is common in all of these terms is holiness. God dwells in holiness. There is nothing unclean in His presence, He is pure and His dwelling place is pure and it must be kept pure. Even when God gave instructions to Moses for putting together the tabernacle, He gave him specific instruction on all the materials that need to be used, from the priestly arguments to the furniture in the tabernacle and we see this item holy attached to all of these things. God is holy and everything of His is holy; His dwelling place is holy and it should never be made unclean. In the New Testament, we have an instruction from apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians chapter 3, verses 16 through 17, where he talks about us, the body, being the temple of God. This is a reminder for us that we ourselves, as individuals, we know that our physical body, in Romans chapter 12, we read about it that we must offer up our physical bodies, a living sacrifice unto God, holy and acceptable. So, our body must be holy, we must be holy, every part of us must be holy and kept holy. When we refer to the temple of God or the body of Christ, it is also talking about the congregation/ the body of believers. We are called to keep the temple of God which is the body of believers pure. Pure in our thoughts, actions and everything that concerns it. So, this is the call of God for us. He dwells in a holy place and as He dwells in each one of us, as He dwells in our gatherings, as He dwells in our places of worship, among the body of believers, may we be a holy habitation for our God. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you for the revelation of the holiness of your dwelling place. Thank you that we are called to holiness and that it is you who empowers us to be holy. We worship and honor you, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
