Greetings and thank you for the opportunity today to come to you and spend these few moments with you in the word of God and in prayer. I hope you've been enjoying these little reflections on how Mary responded to that word that the angel had brought her. Try to put yourself in her place. If God gave you a word, how would you respond? A word that just shakes your world, how would you respond? Of course, God is not necessarily sending angels to us every other day to give us a message but we have the holy scriptures, God's revelation to us and God has already spoken His word to you and me. How are we responding to His word? We're trying to gain some insights from Mary's response or reaction. In Luke chapter 1, we have been observing that Mary believed the word, she rejoiced at the word, she recognized God's purpose, she recognized God's mercy and she also recognizes God's faithfulness. Not just to her but to the word that He had spoken to her forefathers and the word that was brought to her is an expression of God's faithfulness through the generations. God is faithful to His word. This is what Mary said in Luke chapter 1, verses 54 and 55, ‘He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy, as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.’ Mary is now recognizing that what is happening to her and what is going to happen through her is God at work, starting all the way from Abraham. God's word spoken to Abraham, this is generations passed and Mary recognizes the faithfulness of God. She says, God spoke to father Abraham saying that He will bless him and to his seed forever and here I am, being part of that faithful promise that word that God has spoken God is faithful to that word. She is recognizing His faithfulness and would you and I, as we read those scriptures, as we receive the promises, recognize God as a faithful God, do His word, what He has spoken in times past through the mouth of His prophets thousands of years ago, He's faithful to that word and He's faithful to you in this day, in this hour to fulfill that word. As far as God is concerned, His word is good in your life, in my life and so we recognize the faithfulness of God and we celebrate that and we receive His word saying God I know you're faithful to this promise, you will never go back on it, you're faithful. Let's pray, Father, we thank you that the word you have spoken thousands of years ago, you're faithful in our day, in our time to fulfill it. May we recognize you as a faithful God, faithful to the word and every promise that you've made to us, thank you, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
