Growing in the Gifts of the Spirit - Receive & Grow (Daily Devotional)

Hello and welcome to Living Supernaturally. We're so glad that you could be here today and join us as we study God's word together and we've been studying this whole week about growing in the gifts of the Spirit. Today, specifically we're going to look at one more aspect which helps us to grow in the gifts of the Spirit and that is to receive impartation and grow. Romans chapter 1 and verse 11, Paul writes and he says, ‘I long to see you that I may impart to you some spiritual gift so that you may be established.’ Now impartation is spiritual transfer. Now we know that whatever we receive, we receive from God, it's not from man. But God uses human beings or ministers or His children as instruments in order to impart certain things in us. It could be gifts, it could be revelation knowledge, it could be anointings. So, that is what Paul writes here, he says, "I long to see you that I may impart to you." Not that anything is from him, but God uses him to impart this. 1 Timothy chapter 4, verse 14, Paul writes and he says, "Don't neglect the gift of God which is in you which was given to you." How was it given? By prophecy, by the laying on of hands and so that's an impartation. So, the gifts of God come from Him and Him alone, He alone is the source. We should not make a mistake, it does not come from man, we don't have to chase after man. But God in His mercy, God in His plan and purpose brings us across, sets up divine appointments and brings us to people that He may impart certain things in us. John chapter 3, verse 27, the words of the Lord Jesus, ‘a man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.’ So, through the laying on of hands and prayer there is impartation. We can also receive impartation through the ministry of a minister of God, maybe we listen to their preaching, maybe we hear their messages, we read their books and so on, well, there is an impartation. There is a transfer what God has placed in that person and through that person, He transfers to our spirit. Impartation also comes by association meaning by close working or working closely or journeying closely with another person. Whatever God has placed in them, put in them also gets transferred to us and these are biblical, these are what we see in scripture. So, our responsibility is to grow in our functioning and grow in our anointing. The second thing is to grow in our function. God places us in the body and there are different functions that we can do as believers. Maybe it's leadership, maybe it's showing mercy, maybe it is compassion and so on, so, in our function, as we grow in our ministry office, maybe God has called you to be a pastor or a teacher, when we grow in that, we also grow in the expression of the Holy Spirit because the anointing of the Holy Spirit is to empower the believer in that ministry function or in that ministry office. So, as we are faithfully serving and growing in our knowledge, our understanding and our capability to minister in our function or ministry office, we also grow in our anointing. So, with that we come to the end of this and as we pray, let's pray and ask the Lord, let there be an impartation and I want to grow in the functioning or grow in the ministry in the function that you've given us in the body. Shall we pray? Father, we thank you Lord, we thank you for who you are. We thank you for the call, we thank you for the gifting, we thank you for the impartation. Yes Lord, in many different ways, you have orchestrated, you have demonstrated your faithfulness, you have surprised us and brought us in the midst of people to pray over us and faithfully, they've prayed and obeyed and you have imparted your gifts and callings and anointings to us, We pray, even as we continue, continue to impart to us and as we grow in our functioning, may there be an increase of the work of the gifts in and through us, we thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
