Hello and welcome back to Living Supernaturally. It's good that you've tuned in, where we can study the go word of God. This is the daily devotion of All People's church and we want to welcome you and our invitation is to live the supernatural life even as the word of God strengthens us and lifts us up beyond the natural and the ordinary. God's word is able to do that today. We are particularly looking at God's word which comforts us. God comforts the ones who need the comfort. Our Lord comforts us at moments when we are at the lowest points in our life. The Lord comforts us. We are looking at Matthew chapter 11 and verses 28 to 30, a very familiar scripture and the context is this that the Lord invites those who are burdened by life's problems, struggles and religious legalism and sin and so on, He's giving an open invitation and says, "Come." He's inviting them to His presence and He says, "I will give you rest for your soul." Because your soul is burdened, you have been burdened with these thoughts and oppression and all these expectations and so on, you will find rest for your soul. So, He contradicts the burdens of the world with His gentle and light yoke. To be yoked with Him is to walk with Him and receive this peace and renewal for our soul. So, let's look at Matthew chapter 11 and verse 28, ‘Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, For I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.’ He's talking about a rest; He's talking about rest for our souls which comes from the Lord. He's talking about all those who are laboring and are heavy laden and carrying heavy weights and He's saying, this is where you will find rest or in other words, comfort for your soul. And no wonder the Lord, the Holy Spirit is the comforter. The way the Lord Jesus extends or ministers this comfort is through His Holy Spirit, because John chapter 14 and verse 26 describes the Holy Spirit as the helper. He's the one who helps, the word ‘paraklete’, it means that He's the one who comforts, He's the one who strengthens, He's the one who brings hope and help. So, through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus brings comfort for the soul and today, He is inviting us to His very presence. And as we pray, may we respond to this invitation and say, "Yes, Lord, I come to your presence." Let's pray, Father, we thank you for this invitation to come to your presence; all those who are weary, all those who are tired, all those who are heavy laden. We thank you that you have called us specifically to your presence. And so, God, we yield and respond to that invitation and say, "Yes, Lord. We come to your presence. We draw near to your presence in our hearts, in our minds. And even as we do so, Lord, we thank you for your yoke is gentle and light and your burden is light and we thank you for the promise that we will find rest for our souls. We thank you for the comfort and the rest that is possible in your presence, that is only through you and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. We receive it today, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
