Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Shalom and welcome once again, as we meditate and look into God’s word and learn from the judges of Israel, take lessons for our own lives. Today, we are going to be looking at another judge, Gideon. We have been following some of the judges that we can learn from, from their accounts. When we look at the time of Gideon, we see that the Israelites once again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and the Lord hands them over to an enemy for seven years and this time it being, the Midianites. The Midianites were extremely powerful and they oppressed the Israelites mercilessly. Every year, around harvest time, these Midianites would invade Israel. They would come in like locusts, ravaging the land, they would carry everything or they would destroy the things that they left behind. The bible reports that it was so bad that many of the Israelites used to leave their homes and hide in caves and strongholds because they feared for their lives. It is at this time, God calls Gideon, a judge. Giedion whose name means cutter or the feller of trees, he belonged to an undistinguished family and he expresses of how he sees himself as unfit for God’s service. God sees him very differently. God saw him as a mighty man of valor and urges him to go in the might of the Lord to save Israel from that hand of the oppressors. Gideon looks inwards, he looks at his limits, he focuses on the nots, his attention is on his weakest clan and being least in his father’s house, his attention is on his limitations, his doubts, his insecurities, but we see God looks at him with potential and equips him to take on that mission. Gideon asked God for signs to ensure his call and mission and God on the other hand puts him in situations which needed him to operate in faith. Imagine entering a battle with just three hundred men against an enemy troop that is described as thick as locusts and as countless as the sand on the seashore, but God wanted to show Gideon that the battle was not won on his own strength but that of the Lord’s. We see that there was peace in Israel for 40 years during the life of Gideon. No matter how small, settled, weak and doubtful you and I might feel, the story of Gideon teaches us that God doesn’t see us the way we see ourselves. He sees us with greater potential and He is the one who will patiently work with us and shape us. All we have to do is be willing to go in the strength of the Lord, take one step forward at a time and know that God will do the rest. With our faith in God, even our weaknesses can turn into strengths. Instead of limiting us, these are integral parts of who God creates us to be. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that you see us very differently from the way you look at ourselves. Thank you that we can go in your strength and might. Thank you for what you call each one of us in the mission you have for us. May we look to you for your strength and power to lead us in every mission that you’ve called us, may we walk in your purposes with strength, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
