Hello friends, welcome back. Let's continue to meditate on the subject of God's peace. Today, we will begin by reading a passage from Philippians chapter 4, verses 6 and 7, ‘Be anxious for nothing. But in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.’ Verse 8 goes on to tell us about the kind of thoughts that we must dwell on, which are good, pure, and noble. But in these two scriptures, God is calling us to lay down our anxiety. Anxiety is our concern about the unknown, when we do not have all the facts or the pieces of the puzzle, and we choose to ponder on things which are beyond our understanding and control, it builds anxiety which can bog us down. We are called not to be anxious. Instead, we are called to pray and bring our supplication unto God. And in doing this, the word of God promises us that God will exchange our anxiety for His peace. He is the God of peace, Jehovah Shalom, the one who's able to give us peace that the world cannot give us. And so, we can receive His peace in exchange for our anxiety. Sometimes, the enemy is not anxiety, but it is worry when we are preoccupied with the problem. We are not called to deny our problems or pretend that they don't exist, but being preoccupied with them leads us to focus on them. Instead, we are called to pray. Yes, the problems exist, we acknowledge them, but we acknowledge a greater reality, and that is a God who helps us overcome and we pray in order to invite God and the work of the Holy Spirit in our situation. Even as we do that, the word of God promises us we can exchange our anxiety, we can exchange our worries for the peace of God which will rule in our hearts. Shall we pray together? Heavenly Father, we thank you for the promise of your word that instead of anxiety, instead of worry, as we call upon you, we receive your peace and we walk in your peace and we see you conquer every situation that we face. We thank you, God, we worship you, we honor you, in Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
