Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for giving us this opportunity to minister God’s word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we will be looking at the topic of firm foundations and how we as believers need to establish and develop firm foundations for our lives, to walk this life in integrity, in the authority and in obedience to what God has called us to be. Trust in God’s promises- Psalm chapter 62, verse 2, ‘my soul finds rest in God; my strength comes from him. I trust him, and he is my help, and I will not be shaken.’ Whenever someone builds a home, the first thing they need to do is to lay a foundation. This is the solid part that stays firm on the ground. They build on top of a foundation so their home is kept stable and strong. All throughout the scriptures, we see that God is faithful, promise keeping God who calls His people to live trusting in the promises of God. Has God ever called you to a difficult task? Maybe you were led to witness to a friend or a family member who is resistant to the gospel or perhaps, God wanted you to lead a bible study, a small group etc. How did you fell at that time? Were you frightened, nervous, silent, hesitant or maybe all of the above? God knows that our human emotions can sometimes hold us back and that is why the Lord our God gives us all the encouragement we need to do His work. God will not give us an assignment and then just walk away and let us do all the work alone. He provides the resources we need to get the job done. He walks with us every step of the way, guiding and encouraging us. He will never abandon us when we allow Him to work through us. In other words, the psalmist says, you hold me by my right hand, you guide me with your counsel and afterwards, you take me into glory. The promises of God are one of those things that always bring up so many questions in our mind. As we look in the Old Testament, we can see so clearly that God made promises to His people and was always very faithful to keep them. There is no doubt that God is a promise keeping God. When God makes a promise, we can be confident that He will never fail us. In Joshua chapter 1, we see God encouraging Joshua just before he is about to cross the raging Jordan river into the promised land. As the new leader of the Israelites, Joshua was indeed in need of some encouragement. God gave an encouraging promise to Joshua. Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Joshua knew he would ultimately have victory because God promised the end result. When God makes a promise, we can be confident, we can find comfort and strength in the promises of God. When we trust in the promises of God, we will have the confidence to overcome any worry about obstacles, rejections or critics we will face. The promises of God are so rich, so comforting and develops such hope and perseverance in the life of a believer. The promises of God are all about God and not us. Trusting in these promises of God starts with trusting on who God is and what He says He does. As we begin to trust in His character and attributes, we see His incredible power translating into His actions. It is then we can praise Him for who He is and trust in His promises that He has given to each one of us.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for your word and your promises. We ask that we will always stand on your promises that even in the difficult seasons, challenges and problems that we see, your promises will hold fast. We pray that you will teach us to build our foundation on your word and on your promises. Thank you for your faithfulness, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
