Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much once again for this opportunity to minister God's word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we have been talking about firm foundations that we need to develop for a good spiritual walk. Today, we will talk about the importance of scripture. Psalm chapter 19, verses 7 through 9, ‘The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.’ Notice the word ‘bible’ is not in these verses but there are 5 different words that describe the bible. Firstly, the law of the Lord. The law of the Lord is perfect, holy and without errors, it revives the soul. Reviving the soul is another way of saying it changes our heart. The word of God can change our heart, attitudes and if we read it, believe it and obey it, our hearts are transformed. The law of the Lord teaches us like a tutor and we are sinners and we need forgiveness. The law of the Lord that leads us to the cross. The word leads us to Jesus Christ and it is all about Jesus. Secondly, it says, the testimony of the Lord which is sure, making it wise and simple. If we study the word of God, it will help all of us to be wise in the things of God. Wisdom is different from being smart. Wisdom is the ability to out God’s word into action for our lives. There are millions of smart people who do not believe in God. The bible says, only a fool says in his heart, there is no God. Thirdly, the statutes/ precepts of the Lord are right and rejoicing the heart. Fourth, the commandant of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. Enlightening is a big word but enlightenment means that God’s word teaches us and helps us to see and understand the will of the Lord and what is really true. Lastly, the judgement of the Lord is true and righteous. The bible judges us and not vice versa. The word of God judges the thoughts and the attitudes of the heart. Notice the relationship between the heart and the word. The word examines our heart so we will release our need and come to Jesus. The world and its ways are unstable and temporary, like sinking sand but God’s word never fades. As we hear and obey His commands, we are building on solid rock that can weather the changing times. God’s word shapes our hearts and minds, empowers us to love and serve others, stand up for the oppressed and vulnerable and fight against evil and corruption in our society. It is the basis for how we live our lives and build our nation and the generations to come.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for your word that is so true and powerful. We pray that even as we read your infallible and powerful word, let it be deep rooted in our hearts and bearing fruit in our life. Thank you for teaching us today, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
