Welcome everyone! We are talking about the life of Esther. Let's begin by reading a scripture, this is from Esther chapter 4, verse 16, ‘if I perish, I perish.’ it is a very famous declaration of courage and faith. Esther spoke the words knowing that her decision to go and meet the king on behalf of her people may result in her discomfort; in this case her death. We know that at those times one was not supposed to go and meet the king unless they were invited. Esther took it upon herself to do this because she needed to do this because she needed to petition deliverance for her people. It would have been more comfortable for Esther to say no to Mordecai and experience all the pleasures of the palace. She already had position, she already had great favor and she could have just enjoyed all of that and not heard the voice of Mordecai but we see that Esther displayed selflessness. When the time aroused, she displayed great courage and she stepped out even if it meant that she would need to sacrifice her own life. What can we learn from this? When the time arises, whatever is necessary we must be willing to do it and we know that the bible talks to us about being a living sacrifice in Romans chapter 12. The scripture tells us to worship God in this manner by committing our entire lives to God and knowing that whatever we possess is His in the first place. We see that Esther had that understanding. She didn't hold on to her position, her possession, her riches, the great name that she had, but she was willing to step out, even if it meant that she would lose all of it including her life. But this is how Esther was willing to sacrifice. Does this remind us of anyone? Even our Lord Jesus was willing to lay His life down for you and me. Just the way Esther was willing to let go of everything, Jesus came to sacrifice Himself for you and me and this displays selflessness and courage at the same time. This is what you and I are called to do. May be there are times when God speaks to us, He wants us to walk into our assignment, it may mean discomfort, it may even mean loss and it definitely means sacrifice at times but if we are willful to do that, we can see God at work. I just want to encourage us friends to say yes to God. Let's pray together, Father, we thank you that as your people, we can step out in faith and we can see things happening. Even as Esther displayed such courage and selflessness, we pray that we would be like this in whatever you have called us to do. Help us to put your kingdom first and we ask that you will be at the center of it all, we thank you Jesus, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
