Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings, thank you so much for this privilege of being able to come your way today, a beautiful day, this is the day that the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it, because He orders our steps, and He prepares our way for us. We are delighted to be able to spend a few moments with you in God's word and pray with you. This week, we are talking about feeding on the word of God and I hope you've been able to make time to read the scriptures and ask the Lord to give you understanding, to teach you, to open your eyes to things you haven't seen and also give you revelation of who He is, what He has done and what He has made available for you and me. Now part of receiving, feeding on the word that means engaging with the scriptures in such a way that it will nourish our inner person is to meditate in the word of God. God calls us His people to meditate. We see a lot of this in the Old Testament and some references are there in the New Testament to meditate. It doesn't mean that that the process of meditation has been done away with in the New Testament, it's there just that it's emphasized more for us in the Old Testament scriptures, but God calls us to meditate in the scriptures and that's a way by which we internalize or by which we can take the word of God and cause it to feed our inner person. So, for instance, in Psalms chapter 1 and verse 2, it talks about this man who fears God and loves God, and he says his delight is in the law of the Lord, that is in the word of God and in His word and His law, he meditates day and night, he's meditating continuously. In other words, meditate, for us, you know, contemporary, modern-day people, what does it mean to meditate? There is a primary Hebrew word, ‘haga’ to meditate, which simply means to mutter, that means to speak softly to yourself. So literally the word ‘haga’ means to mutter, to speak softly to yourself but it's talking about a process where typically somebody would sit down in a quiet place, they would put a shawl around the head so that they cut off all distractions and they will mutter the word of God to themselves over and over again, that's meditation. But in that process, they're also doing something, first of all, they are contemplating on the word. I want to break it down, three things are happening while they're doing that, the first thing is contemplation that means they are focusing their thought on those words that they're muttering. So, you take a passage of scripture, you have the passage in front of you and you read it over and over again to yourself and you're contemplating on it, you're pondering on it. It's like the cow chewing its cud, it just keeps chewing it over and over and over and over again. It's like it's drawing out everything that's in that food, that's what we're doing when we're contemplating which is one part of meditation, you're pondering, you're focusing your thoughts, you're going over it over and over and over again, it could be one verse of scripture, it could be a short passage, but you're contemplating on it. Contemplation is part of the process of meditation by which you begin to draw nourishment out of the word of God. So, I want to encourage you, contemplate on the word as you read the word, practice it. Let's pray, Father, we thank you for your word, it is milk, its bread, its solid food, its nourishment to us. Help us to contemplate on your word so we can draw nourishment from your word, to feed our inner person, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
