Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this wonderful opportunity to spend a few moments in God’s word and prayer as well. This week, we’ve been talking about consecration and how it is important for us as believers to consecrate our lives, our mind, our thoughts, our body to the plans and purposes of God. Today, we will talk about consecration being an ongoing process. 2 Corinthians chapter 3, verse 18, ‘But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.’ Consecration is an ongoing process, it is not something that is achieved overnight or just happens to each one of us but we go through this consecration process, it may take years and months and it just keeps going on. Today, we are going to be talking about three benefits in consecration and we will look at a few aspects from these three points as well. Number one, consecration reduces negative and unsafe influences. We live in a world where there is so much of influence happening around us, we are continuously bombarded with information from other people, media, technology but we are allowed to sit, pray, meditate, read the bible and discern and understand for ourselves. Consecration is a time to separate from these things and to get acquainted with God and ourselves. Secondly, consecration makes the voice of God clearer to us. Often, it is not God that isn’t speaking to us, it is just that we are too busy, we are consumed/ occupied and we don’t have time to listen to God and what He is saying to us. Remember, in 1 Kings chapter 19, when Elijah went up to the mountain to stand before the Lord, a strong wind, earthquake and a fire came but God wasn’t in any of those. Finally, there was a still, small voice. What does that teach us? With the hustle and bustle of life, with so many voices speaking around us, it is easy to try to hear God’s voice in the midst of the wind, earthquake and fire but those things will drown away at times and God speaks to us in that still, small voice. It is important for us as believers to go back to that secret place, consecrate ourselves and hear from God. Thirdly, consecration creates a habit of discipline. A lack of discipline and structures can lead to failures but a disciplined person can accomplish many things. Discipline can develop consecration in our lives, in a world again when we are bombarded with so many information/ ideologies/ opinions, it can be challenging to us. However, when we are disciplined and set aside time to align ourselves to the plan and will of God, when we discipline our hearts to hear from God, it is not always an easy path but it is surely an experience that we must go through. So, let us choose to consecrate, separate ourselves from worldly pleasures and let us draw closer to God by consecrating ourselves to Him. Let’s pray, Father, we thank you for this time in your presence. We pray that even as we have read and learnt today that you desire for us to seek your face and when we seek you, you are a God who answers us and fills us with your presence. We pray that each of us will consecrate our lives for your purposes, in Jesus’s name we pray, Amen.
