Committed (Daily Devotional)

Greetings! and thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to come to you today, spend a few moments in the word and pray, this week we're talking about mindset, the posture of our mental attitude in life situations. Talking about having a positive mindset or developing a positive mindset based on the word of God.

Today, I want to talk about having a mindset that is committed. In James chapter one and verse eight, James writes, he says, ‘a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.’ You know, there's a context to it, he's talking about faith and asking God, but the statement nonetheless is true even if you take it and extend it beyond its given context. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. That means a man who is divided in his thinking, who is divided in his commitment, a double minded man, he's unsure. He says he is unstable in all of his ways, he's not steady and cannot stay the course. So that tells us and let's look at it in a positive way, that tells us the importance of being single minded or being committed. If you want to be able to stay the course in anything in life, we must be single minded, we must be committed to something, committed maybe to your goal, committed maybe to your calling, committed maybe to a vision that you're pursuing or an assignment that you're given, a project that you've been assigned, whatever you're committed and when you and I are committed, single minded focus, then the stability and with stability comes strength. So, this is an attitude or a mindset we need to have and really this is a choice we make; a choice to be committed, not to be double minded. When you and I are committed, there is stability, strength in our lives, it's good for us and of course it will attract people, people like to be around those who are committed, who are staying the course. They're not fickle minded, they're not on and off, up and down, here and there. No, they're staying the course, their single minded, they're committed. Develop a committed mindset, know what God has called you to do. Do it, stay the course, be focused.

Let’s pray, Father, we thank you, that you give us the grace to be single minded, to be focused, to be stable in all our ways. Thank you for helping us do that, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
