Greetings, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us yet another opportunity to minister to you and spend a few moments in prayer as well. Today, we will look at clothed with Christ. Colossians chapter 3, verse 12, ‘Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’ The bible describes how being made new in Christ is like putting on a new and special clothing. In Revelation chapter 7, we read that God’s people were given white robes to wear, washed in the blood of the lamb. Galatians chapter 3 says that we are all baptized and clothed with Christ. Paul’s earlier description of those who were once alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, who had been reconciled at the cross are now a result of God’s chosen, holy and dearly beloved people. ‘Holy’ describes sinners who have supernaturally set apart and separated from a profane, common and unholy world. We are expected to be different because we are different. We share a different kind of life – an eternal life, the life of Christ is our hope and assurance of a future glory. Paul uses the word ‘beloved’, which is a verb which means to over unconditionally and sacrificially as God Himself loves us. This quality of love is not an emotion but an action initiated by choice. For example, God’s love will sometimes be manifest in us to discipline us, when we wander away from His paths. We did not make ourselves holy or elect ourselves into the kingdom of God. This truth functions in a sense as a motivational speaker. Jesus once said to His disciples, you did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to bear much fruit. In Colossians, we are encouraged to clothe ourselves with compassion, humility, kindness, gentleness and patience. These qualities are like pieces of a matching set of clothes. Did you notice that Paul names these articles of clothing after giving us a long list of vices that need to die such as lust, evil, greed, anger, rage, jealousy and filthy language? Paul is saying in effect, get rid of yourself your old, dirty, smelly clothes so that Jesus can give us the clothing of life. When we are dying to live, Jesus signs through us. What are some things that should die in us and which articles of clothing must we put on in Christ?

Let us pray, Father, we thank you once again for teaching us through your word that we are to be clothed with you, clothed in humility and in power. Help us to put on these attributes in our life and to walk in power and authority. We commit each one of us into your hands, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
