Greetings and welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to spend a few moments in God’s word and in prayer. This week, we have been gaining insights from the book of Colossians and today, we will look at clothe yourselves with humility. Colossians chapter 3, verse 12, ‘as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with humility.’ Humility is about recognizing our own worthlessness before God and others and acknowledging that everything that we have is a gift from God. It is a call to embrace a lowliness of heart and attitude, not just as a personal trait but a way of relating to others in a Christian community as well. It is about acknowledging God’s power and our own limitations, prioritizing others needs over ours and recognizing the value of servanthood. Put another way- humility embraces the reality that I’m not God. Pride let humanity’s fall when Adam and Eve desired to be like God. Let’s marvel at this remarkable word from the apostle Paul that Christ humbled Himself. The eternal Son first became man and humbled Himself. Humility thinks more of others than itself. When we find ourselves thinking too much about ourselves and our concerns, we must offer prayers to God and switch off this whole train of thought turning our minds to others and often prayers for others. Humility is ready to do anything for the Lord. It never recoils from taking any necessary task. Some as we say, I’m not doing this or that, it is beneath me and unreasonable to ask me. Nothing which needs to be done for Christ is too much trouble or too lowly for a humble person. Humility is always ready to see one’s own weaknesses and try harder. Humility is willing to go unrecognized, unthanked, unpraised for what it does, however unfair it may seem. As soon as the thought enters the mind that no one thanks me enough for what I do, humility sweeps that aside, counting every act of service as a privilege for the Lord. True humility bears no resentment. We learn that destructive attitudes driven by pride and self-reliance will always get us down in the end. As Christian leaders, we must always turn to God as our ultimate authority to find His protection, His provision and blessings. Our humility will unlock great doors of kingdom power in our life.

Let us pray, Father, we thank you for teaching us about humility. Help us to walk in humility in every area of our life, to know that you humbled yourself and you’re calling us to humble ourselves. Your word is so true. You said, you will lift those who are humble. We thank you, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
