Hi everyone! We're talking about Abraham and learning lessons from his life and the faith that Abraham carried. Today, we will continue to talk about this faith and we will also see that Abraham was not perfect. Let’s read from Hebrews chapter 4, verse 15, the scripture says, ‘For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are—yet without sin.’ We have a great high priest in our Lord Jesus. When we consider the life of Abraham, we know that it wasn’t a perfect one. There were times when he lied about his own wife, Sarah and said that she was his sister and this was to protect himself. We also know that he was impatient as far as the promise of God for his life was concerned. So, he went ahead with the idea of Sarah and he was with Hagar. So, Abraham made mistakes and it is quite clear in his journey and yet we see that God didn’t take him out of the promise or God didn’t take the promise away from him. Another important thing we must know is that Abraham went back to God. Yes, the journey was not a straight line, there were ups and downs but he went back to God and he continued to pursue the purpose of God for his life and this is very important for us. It is not that mistakes don’t happen in our lives or we don’t doubt at certain points in our lives but just the way Abraham got back up and pursued God’s purpose, we too must do the same. We see how our Lord Jesus is a high priest. He is able to sympathize with all the weaknesses we have. Another great thing about him is that he didn’t fall, not even once. The bible tells us that He overcame every time and He was found without sin. Faith is not a momentary thing but faith is a journey of a lifetime. Let’s trust God! Even if we are in the ups or downs, we can continue to journey with God and see His promises fulfilled. The Lord Jesus Himself is with us, He is going before us and He is interceding for us, the scriptures tell us that He is our high priests. Let’s continue to put our faith in Him and continue strong. Let’s pray together, Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not reject us for our weaknesses but through the power of your word and you Holy Spirit, you always strengthen us and bring us back to that place where we can trust you once again and continue in our journey of faith. We thank you for being such a gracious and merciful God. We thank you for being our great high priest. We commit ourselves into your hands, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
