Greetings and welcome to this weekly devotional, where we spend a few moments each day in the word of God and prayer together. This week, we want to address a topic that is so important to all of us, especially having gone through this extended period through the pandemic. In general, the topic of mental health is important in any case, but it has become that much more highlighted, as globally we have journeyed through this pandemic, where extended periods of time, we have had to be in isolation, away from people and activities that we would otherwise have been engaged in and it has impacted many of us in our mental health. So, we want to just address a few things on this subject obviously in our daily devotionals, we are not going to be talking about everything possible, but I just want to bring a few thoughts to us, more as an encouragement, as what we can receive from God in the area of our mental wellbeing or emotional health. I want to remind us that the scriptures tell us that a sound mind is God’s provision for us. 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 7, the scriptures say, ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ What God has given to us, brings in us power, love, and soundness of mind or wholeness or health in our mental, emotional sphere of life. I understand that in some versions, the sound mind is translated as self-control and so on, but obviously the self-control or the self-governing ability cannot be possible unless one is of a sound mind, or they are doing well emotionally. This soundness of mind is something that God has made available to us. Some of us have had some challenges in the area of our mind, in the area of our mental health, I want to remind us of Psalms chapter 23, verse 3, ‘He restores my soul.’ God restores and brings it back to normal, proper order and functioning, He restores our soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions. This is God’s word, and this can become our experience, even though we have journeyed through and may journey through times that may impact and effect our mental health seriously. But God has promised us soundness of mind and wellness of soul as His gift to us. Let’s receive that, lets pray, Father, we receive, soundness of mind and restoration to our soul, our mental being, emotional, mental wellbeing, we receive that because you restore our soul, you help us emotionally and mentally and make us whole. Thank you for it, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
