Daily Devotional church in Bangalore

Daily Devotions for Spirit Filled Living

God's Word is spiritual food and nourishment. The Bible uses many metaphors: bread, milk, meat, food, water, honey, seed, rain, light, lamp, gold, sword, etc. for itself. God's Word is the basis for our faith. It is God's power at work in our lives. As you receive God's Word expect to receive wisdom and guidance. Expect to be healed, delivered, transformed. Expect God's supernatural power to work miracles in your life. His Word never return void or unfulfilled.

Each daily devotion is about five minutes in duration. We have intentionally developed the daily devotions around a weekly theme. So there are seven days of daily devotions that focus on the theme and bring you insight, understanding and revelation from the Bible. Each week's theme is listed as a series. So you can listen to the current week's daily devotions or go to any previous theme/series that speaks to your present need.

You can watch the video or download and listen to the audio. Almost all daily devotions end with a prayer. You can access these from this page as well as from the Home page of this website.

All our daily devotions are also available on our free church App for you to listen on your mobile device. Download our free church App from App or Google Play stores. Search for "All Peoples Church Bangalore".

Greetings and thank you for this opportunity today to come to you and spend a few moments with you in the word of God and in prayer. This week, we are focusing on the subject of mental health and I’m just reminding us of a few scriptures and a few things that we can expect God to work for us, in us, especially in our soul, in the area of our mental wellbeing. In 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 7, we read, where the apostle Paul had written that ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.’ It is talking about soundness of mind. Now a sound mind has a sound concentration. A problem that some of us may have, I’m not saying all of struggle with, is a lack of concentration, a wandering mind, a distracted mind, an inability to focus on something for an extended period of time as required. We are unable to concentrate, that means give our full attention to something over a period of time, but we must take hold of what God has provided for us. God has given to us the empowering of His Spirit, that produces in us love, power and a sound mind. Wholeness of soul, mind/ mental health, part of that is a sound concentration. Claim that for yourself and say, God has given me a sound mind and I have a sound concentration, I have the ability to focus, to pay attention, to fix my attention on something as required for an extended period of time and I break off a distracted, wandering mind, a mind that has the inability to concentrate but I claim a sound mind that is given to me by the empowering of the Holy Spirit, for God has given to me His Spirit who gives love, power and a sound mind. Of course, there are some practical things that we can do to develop our ability to concentrate, and we must also do that. Just like in other things, for e.g., think about our physical health, God is our healer and miracle worker, true indeed, but He has also given us responsibility to take care of our health, that is our part in walking in good health. Similarly, for us to walk in soundness of mind, there is God’s provision which is the empowering of the Holy Spirit to give us a sound concentration, but we also must do our part, which is we must train or practice focusing on things for extended periods of time. In modern language, we call it doing deep work, that means you intentionally say I’m going to keep the next 30-45 minutes to focus on this thing and I’m shutting off distractions like our computer, phone, the news etc. But when you and I say I’m going to do deep work and shut off these distractions, so that I can intentionally focus on something for the next 30-45 minutes or an hour or so, that is our responsibility in ensuring we develop our capacity to concentrate. Sadly, the world we live in is a very distracted world but remember God has given me a sound mind and a sound concentration. Let’s pray, Father, I pray especially for people who maybe struggling with the ability to concentrate. Today, in the name of Jesus, we take a hold of the empowering of the Holy Spirit which blesses us with a sound concentration, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
