The Christ of Christmas
Ps Ashish Raichur

The Christ of Christmas is more than just a baby in a manger, a great teacher, the founder of a new religion, a great philosopher, a charismatic leader, or even a prophet of God.

1, The Eternal Creator
2, The Incarnate God
3, The Saviour of the World
4, The Risen Lord
5, The Coming King

1, The Eternal Creator

John 1:1-3,14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Colossians 1:16,17
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM”.

  • All of Creation (Proverbs 8:22-31, Colossian 2:3). What we are discovering today in creation, was already conceived in Him before He even Created anything.
  • All things were in Him - all of Creation is really an expression of Him (Colossians 1:16,17). Every part of Him, is filled with Him. His invisible attributes are revealed in Creation (Romans 1:20).
  • All of Creation begins and ends in Him. He is the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 1:8).
  • The beginning and the end was completed in Him before He created anything (Hebrews 4:3 "although the works were finished from the foundation of the world"). He is at the beginning and at the end at the same time, because the beginning and the end is in Him. God has placed eternity in our hearts so that we can search out and understand a little bit of the works He does (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
  • The Lamb of God slain from before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:19,20; Revelation 13:8). Redemption was completed in Him, even before Creation began.
  • The Book of Life written from before the foundation of the world (Revelation 17:18; 20:15). He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). God saw the choices each one would make and wrote our names down, even before Creation began.
  • We were chosen in Him from before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).
  • We were called, justified, glorified from before the foundation of the world to be conformed into Christlikeness (Romans 8:29,30).
  • We were ordained as a people chosen to inherit His Kingdom from before the foundation of the world (Matthew 25:34).
All this took place in God, before anything was even created.

2, The Incarnate God

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Micah 5:2
But you Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to me the one to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.

Philippians 2:5-7
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.

Jesus Christ is the one and only incarnation of God. He is the first and last, the one and only.
If there were multiple incarnations of God, it would imply that there was something lacking in the previous incarnation, that is the previous incarnation was imperfect.
Jesus Christ is the Perfect, Complete, once for all incarnation of God. There is no need for any incarnation before or after Him.

3, The Saviour of the World

Matthew 1:21
And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."

1 Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,..

1 John 4:14
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.

He paid for our sins and completed the work of redeeming man from the Fall.
He saves, heals, delivers. Redemption is completed. Satan is defeated.
He is the same yesterday today and forever.

4, The Risen Lord

Philippians 2:9-11
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The evidence of His resurrection : transformed lives, the work of the Holy Spirit, the power of His name

5, The Coming King

Acts 1:11
who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

Is the Christ of Christmas Your Christ?

John 1:12
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

Will you believe in Him for who He really is? Will you follow Him and live in obedience to Him the rest of your life?
