Greetings, welcome to Living Supernaturally. Thank you once again for giving us this opportunity to minister God's word and to spend a few moments in prayer. This week, we've been looking at insights on being robed with righteousness and you and I as believers have already been robed with this righteousness. Today, we will look at new self and a new identity. Ephesians chapter 4, verses 22 to 24, ‘That you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you may put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.’ In a world where we have been bombarded with conflicting messages on who we are or who we should be, discovering our true identity can be confusing and a long process. According to the Bible, our true identity is in Jesus Christ. And we may have heard this phrase many times, ‘who we are in Christ is who we really are.’ Once we understand this, our focus shifts from self-perception to God centered perspective that gives purpose, joy and peace. The foundation of our true identity is the fact that we have been created in the image of God and God's divine imprint is upon us, signifying that we are worthy, we have dignity and God has set us as His children with a true identity and that is who we are meant to be. Our true identity is further defined by the redemptive work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Paul says in 2 Corinthians chapter 5, verse 17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away, all things become new." Our true identity in Christ also includes the powerful indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit guides, comforts and equips us to live as children of God, bearing fruit every day of our lives. Another aspect of our true identity is freedom from condemnation. Condemnation will come; the enemy can bring attacks against us. But the freedom we have in Christ allows us to live boldly, knowing that our past sins don't define us. We are instead defined by who God says we are, we are created in Christ Jesus for good works, bearing fruit in the Spirit every day of our lives. Our true identity is not found in worldly achievements, human relationships, career choices or our social status, but in our relationship with Christ Jesus. When we embrace this truth in the scripture, we can live purposefully and confidently, knowing that we have a true identity and a new purpose for our lives. We are created in the image of God, redeemed by Christ, adopted as God's children and empowered by the Holy Spirit. You and I must recognize that we have a new self, a new identity, an identity that you and I are children, sons and daughters of the living God. Let's pray, Father, we thank you once again for your word that brings so much clarity and power. We thank you that in you we have a new identity, we have been robed as your children. We pray that each one of us will walk in this identity knowing that we are your children. Teach us and empower us by the power of your Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
